The City of Golden is the Home Rule Municipality that is the county seat of Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. Golden lies along Clear Creek at the base of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Founded during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush on June 16, 1859, the mining camp was originally named "Golden City" in honor of Thomas L. Golden. Golden City served as the capital of the provisional Territory of Jefferson from 1860 to 1861, and capital of the official Territory of Colorado from 1862 to 1867. In 1867, the territorial capital was moved about 12 miles (19 km) east to Denver City. Golden is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 18,867.

The Fluid was an American rock band from Denver which formed in 1985, disbanded in 1993, but reconvened in 2008. The group cited the Rolling Stones and MC5 as inspirations for their sound, and was the first group based outside the Pacific Northwest to sign with influential Seattle label Sub Pop.

The Gothic Theatre is a former movie theater turned music venue in Englewood, Colorado. It was built in the 1920s but later revitalized in 1998. Since the theater re-opened in 1998, it has held an abundance of events, ranging from local concerts to private events and film showcases.
The Widow's Bane is an American band from Boulder, Colorado whose music incorporates elements of roots revival, sea shanties, klezmer, vaudeville, gothic rock, and murder ballads while evoking the comedic cabaret styles of Tom Waits and Nick Cave. The band defines their genre as Zombie-Death-Polka. Its line-up includes frontman Gov. Mortimer Leech, Rutherford Belleview, Rictus Corpum, Franklin McKane, and Bat Catacombs. Previous band members were Jimson Crockett, Abracham Lynch, Frank Raven, James Calvin Thompson, and Philip Parker. Their live show is characterized by zombie-style makeup, Great Depression-era costumes, the creepy animatronic movements of lead singer Leech, and dancing by self-styled "snake-charming hussy," Madame Reaper.

Annie Booth (US) is an American jazz pianist and educator. Since the age of 16, she studied with jazz organist Pat Bianchi, pianistJeff Jenkins and Art Lande. She studied at the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts and went on to earn a BM in Jazz Studies from the Thompson Jazz Studies Program at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2011.
Dorothy Tanner was an American light sculptor, installation artist, musician, videographer, and spoken word artist based in Denver, Colorado. Her husband, Mel Tanner, was an American light sculptor, painter, installation artist, and videographer. The couple worked very closely for over 40 years. Their main project was the creation of Lumonics that consists of their light sculptures, live projection, video, electronics, and music as a total art installation. Author and art historian, Michael Betancourt, described this visual music performance work as a Gesamtkunstwerk in his book, The Lumonics Theater: The Art of Mel & Dorothy Tanner, published in 2004.

Soul Merchants were an American deathrock band formed in March 1985 in Denver, Colorado by vocalist Malcolm Black and guitarist Michael Moore. They are regarded as Denver's first goth rock band. Their sound were compared to other goth rock groups such as the Sisters of Mercy and Joy Division. In fact, they have been regarded as the Denver's version of the Sisters of Mercy. The band incorporated genres such as Goth Rock, Psychedelia, Punk rock and Glam rock. The group described their music as "Psychedelic Death Rock". They were noted for their live shows for performing a different cover song in every live show they made. They have performed a cover of Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida in one of their live shows. The group had disbanded in March 1987.
