Clotilde Nizigama is a Burundian politician. Nizigimana was the former Minister of Economy,Finance and Development in Burundi,having been appointed to the position in 2007 by the former president of Burundi,Pierre Nkurunziza. [1] The term began on 14 November 2007 and ended in 2012. [2] She was also governor of the African Development Bank, [3] and vice-general secretary of the CEEAC. [4]
Burundi's relations with its neighbours have often been affected by security concerns. During the Burundian Civil War,hundreds of thousands of Burundian refugees have at various times crossed to neighboring Rwanda,Tanzania,and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Some Burundian rebel groups have used neighboring countries as bases for insurgent activities. The 1993 embargo placed on Burundi by regional states hurt diplomatic relations with its neighbors;relations have improved since the 1999 suspension of these sanctions.

Sylvie Kinigi is a Burundian politician and economist who served as prime minister of Burundi from 10 July 1993 to 7 February 1994,and acting president from November 1993 to 5 February 1994,making her the second African woman to serve as a president.

Parliamentary elections were held in the Republic of the Congo on 24 June 2007,with a second round initially planned for 22 July 2007,but then postponed to 5 August 2007. According to the National Commission of the Organization of the Elections (CONEL),1,807 candidates stood in the first round for 137 seats in the National Assembly. The principle law enforcement agency in Burundi is the National Police of Burundi. The police falls within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Public Security. It is separate from the National Intelligence Service (SNR),the state intelligence agency.
The Supreme Court is the highest civil and criminal court in Burundi. It has nine members,including the Court President,who are nominated by the Judicial Service Commission and appointed by the President of the Republic after the approval of the Senate. The court's president is referred to as the Chief Justice.
Alexis Sinduhije is a Burundian journalist and politician. After founding Radio Publique Africaine during the Burundi Civil War,Sinduhije received a CPJ International Press Freedom Award and was named to the Time 100 list of most influential people. In 2007,he left journalism to run for president,but was arrested in 2008 on a charge of "insulting the president," Pierre Nkurunziza,drawing protests on his behalf from the U.S.,U.K.,and Amnesty International. He was found not guilty and released in 2009. The film "Kamenge,Northern Quarters" follows Sinduhije before,during,and after his incarceration.
Louis Sylvain Goma is a Congolese politician who was Prime Minister of Congo-Brazzaville from 18 December 1975 to 7 August 1984,serving under three successive Heads of State:Marien Ngouabi,Jacques Yhombi-Opango,and Denis Sassou Nguesso. Later,he was Secretary-General of the Economic Community of Central African States from 1999 to 2012,and he has been Congo-Brazzaville's Ambassador to Argentina since 2019.
Mulenge is a village encircled by hills in the Kigoma groupement (grouping),within Bafuliiru Chiefdom,located in the Uvira Territory,South Kivu,in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is situated on the high plateaus of the Itombwe massif,overlooking the locality of Uvira. The area has conventionally been inhabited by various ethnic groups,including the remnants of the autochthonous population of African Pygmies,as well as Bantu ethnic groups such as the Mbuti,Fuliiru,and Nyindu. The region boasts high agricultural productivity,with two harvests typically achievable each year.

A women's football programme did not exist in Burundi until 2000,and only 455 players had registered for participation on the national level by 2006.
Uvira Territory is a territory located in South Kivu Province in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Encompassing an area of roughly 3,146 kilometers and with a population estimate of 1,165,092 as of 2020,it is bordered by Walungu Territory to the north,Mwenga Territory to the west,and Fizi Territory to the south. The territory's southeastern boundary is defined by the city of Uvira,which attained city status on 13 June 2019,while the eastern perimeter adjoins the Republic of Burundi and Lake Tanganyika. Within the territory,Kiliba and Sange serve as significant towns.
Prostitution in Burundi is illegal but is commonplace and on the rise. Prostitution is prevalent in all areas of the country,and especially in the largest city,Bujumbura,and prior to the security crisis in 2015,the tourist areas around Lake Tanganyika. UNAIDS estimate there are 51,000 prostitutes in Burundi. Many women have turned to prostitution due to poverty. Previously law enforcement made little effort to curb prostitution. Political pressures,including from the mayor of Bujumbura,Freddy Mbonimpa,have led to crackdowns all over the country.
