Colin Hitschler (born March 13, 1986) is an American football coach. He is the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach for the University of Alabama, positions he has held since 2024.

Coaching career

Hitschler started his coaching career in 2009 as a training camp assistant for the Philadelphia Eagles. Then in 2010, he was hired by the Kansas City Chiefs as a player personal assistant. [1] In 2011, Hitschler was hired to be the co-special teams coordinator and defensive line coach at Salve Regina. A year later in 2012, he joined Widener as the team's special team coordinator and defensive back coach. [2] In 2013, Hitschler was hired by Arkansas State as a graduate assistant. [3] In 2014, Hitschler was hired by the South Alabama Jaguars as a graduate assistant. [4] In 2015, Hitschler was promoted by South Alabama as the director of football operations. Two years later in 2017, the Jaguars promoted Hitschler to be the safeties coach. [5] In 2018, Hitschler was hired by Cincinnati as a defensive quality control coach. [6] In 2019, Hitschler was promoted to be a senior defensive analyst. [7] In 2020, Hitschler was promoted to coach the Bearcats safeties. [8] In 2022, Hitschler was promoted to be Cincinnati's co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach. [9] In 2023, Hitschler joined the Wisconsin Badgers as the team's co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach. [10] In 2024, Hitschler was hired by the Alabama Crimson Tide to be the team's co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. [11] [12]

Gary Lee Andersen is an American football coach who was most recently head football coach at Utah State University. Andersen has also been the head football coach of Southern Utah (2003), Wisconsin (2013–2014), and Oregon State (2015–2017). He served three years as the defensive coordinator at Utah, where he coached the 2008 Utes team that went undefeated and beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl to finish the season ranked second in the nation. Previously he was the head coach at the University of Cincinnati, a position he held from 2016 through 2022. Fickell played college football as a nose guard at Ohio State University from 1993 to 1996 and then was an assistant coach for the Buckeyes. He was interim head coach at Ohio State for the entire 2011 season.

Mike Tressel is an American college football coach. He is the defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach for the University of Wisconsin–Madison, positions he has held since 2023. Tressel, the nephew of former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel, joined the University of Cincinnati's football coaching staff under Mark Dantonio in 2004. Tressel followed Dantonio to Michigan State when he was hired there in December 2006. He was named the acting head coach when Dantonio announced his retirement in February 2020. Tressel was one of two Dantonio assistants retained by Dantonio's successor, Mel Tucker.
