Colin Robert Wilkinson (born 4 April 1961) is a former Ireland rugby union international from Northern Ireland.

Born in Belfast, Wilkinson was a fullback with Malone and Ulster, who was capped once for Ireland. He appeared for Ireland against Scotland at Murrayfield in the 1993 Five Nations Championship at the late age of 31, making him the oldest back to debut for the Irish. At the time of his call up, he was a practising solicitor in the town of Downpatrick. [1] [2]

He was assistant coach, under Harry Williams, of Ulster's 1998–99 Heineken Cup-winning team. [3]

Wilkinson received a suspended custodial sentence in 2013 after he pled guilty to seven charges of "obtaining a pecuniary advantage for himself or another", through his work as an insurance broker. Between 2003 and 2005, he had been using illegal means to obtain cheaper health cover. The sentence was suspended for two years [4]

Malone RFC is a rugby union club based in Belfast, in Northern Ireland. It is currently in the Division 1B of the All-Ireland League. The club is affiliated with the Ulster Branch, itself part of the Irish Rugby Football Union. It is one of the last remaining Belfast rugby clubs not to have amalgamated and still plays at its original ground. As well as its successful Senior teams, it has a thriving Youth and Mini structure, and was the first Mini rugby team from Ireland to play in the renowned Fundacion Cisneros International rugby tournament in Madrid.

The 1995–96 season was Ulster Rugby's first season under professionalism. Brian Bloomfield was in his second season as coach. 35-year-old Malone RFC centre Bill Harbinson, who first played for Ulster in 1986, was captain, in his final season before retirement from the game. They played six representative matches, defeating Griqualand West, New Zealand Federation U23 and New South Wales, and losing to a Côte Basque Select XV, the Combined Services and Edinburgh District.
