The Preakness Stakes is an American thoroughbred horse race held annually on Armed Forces Day, the third Saturday in May at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. The Preakness Stakes is a Grade I race run over a distance of 1+3⁄16 miles on dirt. Colts and geldings carry 126 pounds (57 kg); fillies 121 pounds (55 kg). It is the second jewel of the Triple Crown, held two weeks after the Kentucky Derby and three weeks before the Belmont Stakes.

Forsyth was established in 1876 as the first settlement on the Yellowstone River, and in 1882 residents named the town after General James William Forsyth who commanded Fort Maginnis, Montana during the Indian Wars and the 7th Cavalry at the Wounded Knee Massacre. The town has long been a transportation nexus, starting with steamboats on the river and progressing to the Northern Pacific Railway and Interstate 94.
Lame Deer is a census-designated place (CDP) in Rosebud County, Montana, United States. The community is named after Miniconjou Lakota chief Lame Deer, who was killed by the U.S. Army in 1877 under a flag of truce south of the town. It was the site of a trading post from the late 1870s.

Brown is regarded as one of the elite trainers in the world, having won four consecutive Eclipse Award for Outstanding Trainer in the United States 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2019, he also achieved the highest position in the World Training Standings according to the Thoroughbred Racing Commentary (TRC) Global Rankings, becoming the first and only American trainer to be recognized as the World's Number One Trainer. Brown has achieved success with multiple Grade I victories on dirt, including 2 Preakness Stakes wins with Cloud Computing in 2017 and Early Voting in 2022, and narrowly missing a Kentucky Derby victory in 2024 with Sierra Leone. Despite all his success on dirt and with colts, Brown is particularly renowned for his expertise with turf horses and with fillies and mares. Over his career, Brown has trained thirteen Eclipse Award winners including Stacelita, Big Blue Kitten, Lady Eli, Flintshire, Goodnight Olive, and Horse of the Year Bricks and Mortar.
Colt Anderson is a former American football safety and coach who is the special teams coach for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Montana and was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He was also a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills.
Duane Ankney is a Republican member of the Montana Senate representing District 20. Ankney was a member of Montana House of Representatives for District 43, which represents a portion of the Yellowstone County area from 2007 to 2015.
Natagora was a French champion Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare, named after a Belgian NGO. She won five of her seven starts as a two-year-old including the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes and the Group Two Prix Robert Papin. She was named European Champion Two-year old Filly at the Cartier Racing Awards. As a three-year-old she recorded her most important victory when taking the Classic 1000 Guineas. Although she never won again she finished placed in the Prix du Jockey Club, Prix Rothschild, Prix Jacques Le Marois and Prix de la Forêt. After her racing career ended she had some success as broodmare, producing a number of winning foals. Natagora was one of an outstanding generation of French-trained fillies which also included Zarkava and Goldikova.
Epitome was an American Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. After losing five of her first six races she recorded her first significant win in the Pocahontas Stakes, before establishing herself as one of the best fillies of her generation in North America by taking the fourth edition of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. She was voted the American Champion Two-Year-Old Filly of 1987. She won two minor races from six starts in the following year before being retired from racing. She had a solid breeding record as a broodmare, producing eight winners including the UAE Derby winner Essence of Dubai.
Dancing Time (1938–1958) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare, who raced during World War II and was best known for winning the classic 1000 Guineas in 1941. After finishing unplaced in her only race as a two-year-old, the filly won the 1000 Guineas on the July course at Newmarket on her three-year-old debut. She later finished third in both the Oaks Stakes and the St Leger. After her retirement from racing she became a successful broodmare.
Pennycomequick was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She showed promise as a two-year-old in 1928 when she won her only race by a wide margin. In the following year she won two races including a victory in the Epsom Oaks. She failed when made favourite for the St Leger and was retired from racing after sustaining a serious leg injury in autumn. She became a very successful broodmare, producing several major winners.
Braxton Mitchell is an American politician and businessman serving as a Republican member of the Montana House of Representatives from the 3rd district. Elected in 2020, he assumed office on January 4, 2021, and became one of the youngest elected officials in the country.
