The Rascals are an American rock band, formed in Garfield, New Jersey, United States, in 1965.
Sentimental Hygiene is the sixth studio album by rock singer-songwriter Warren Zevon and his first "sober" one. The album was released on August 29, 1987, by Virgin Records. The release of Sentimental Hygiene marked the first studio album for Zevon in five years. It produced the single "Reconsider Me", as well as the dance single "Leave My Monkey Alone". The band on the album includes guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry, who also recorded an album of covers with Zevon at this time.
Rascal Flatts is an American country music band founded in 1999 in Nashville, Tennessee. The group consists of Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus, and Joe Don Rooney. DeMarcus is LeVox's second cousin, a brother-in-law of country music singer James Otto, and was previously a member of the contemporary Christian music duo East to West. LeVox and DeMarcus are both natives of Columbus, Ohio.
Noel Pagan, also known simply as Noel, is an American freestyle music singer born in the Bronx, New York City. His debut single, "Silent Morning", became his first top 10 hit on the dance singles chart and peaked at No. 47 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1987.
Martha Elaine Wash is an American singer and songwriter. Known for her distinctive and powerful voice, Wash first achieved fame as half of the Two Tons O' Fun, along with Izora Armstead, as they sang backing vocals for the disco singer Sylvester including on his signature hit "You Make Me Feel ". After gaining their own record deal, they released three consecutive commercially successful songs which all peaked at number two in the dance charts. The duo was renamed The Weather Girls in 1982 after they released the top-selling single "It's Raining Men", which brought them to mainstream pop attention. The Weather Girls released five albums and were heavily featured on Sylvester's albums.
"Turn the Beat Around" is a disco song written by Gerald Jackson and Peter Jackson, and performed by American actress and singer Vicki Sue Robinson in 1976, originally appearing on her debut album, Never Gonna Let You Go (1976). Released as a single, the song went to #10 on the Billboard pop charts, and #73 on the Billboard soul chart. The song earned Robinson a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. The track also went to number one on the Billboard disco chart for four weeks. "Turn the Beat Around" is considered a disco classic and is featured on many compilation albums.
Thomas Alden Page was an American singer-songwriter, best known for his 1990 hit single "I'll Be Your Everything" and was later a music industry executive. Page collaborated with many artists, including New Kids on the Block, Tiffany, Michael Bolton, Diane Warren as well as Malaysian singers Amy Mastura and Fauziah Latiff.
Captain Hollywood Project is a German eurodance music project best known for the hits "More and More," "Only with You" and "Flying High." At the peak of its success in the 1990s, the project achieved ten top-20 hits on European music charts. The project was first formed in 1990 in Nuremberg, Germany by American rapper/singer, dancer and music producer Tony Dawson-Harrison. When first naming the project, Harrison chose the name 'Captain Hollywood Project' in order to distinguish his new music for the project from his music from previous years. He also chose the name to give himself the creative freedom as executive producer to involve any singer, songwriter or producer of his choice when producing each of the new songs for the project. Even though the act has been viewed as a one-man act starring Harrison as the rapper/frontman, an ensemble of female backup singers, dancers and backing musicians have been traditionally included in the act by Harrison. Today, Captain Hollywood Project is recognized as a live performing duo act starring Harrison and singer/dancer Shirin von Gehlen as the project's lead singer and frontwoman. Together with their live musicians and dancers, Harrison and von Gehlen perform the Captain Hollywood Project hits year-round at concert venues in the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, Russia and Australia.
Thalía is the eighth studio album and second eponymous album by Mexican singer Thalía, released on 21 May 2002, by EMI Latin. The follow-up to her successful sixth studio album, Arrasando (2000), the album sees Thalía collaborating with previous producers Emilio Estéfan, Jr. and Cory Rooney, while working for the first time with Estéfano, Julio C. Reyes and Steve Morales. Thalía incorporates strong elements of pop rock, while also having Latin pop influences. Lyrically, the album touches on themes of self-empowerment and individuality. It also features two covers and a new version of an old Latin classic.
La Chica Dorada is the debut solo studio album by Mexican singer Paulina Rubio, released on October 20, 1992, by EMI Capitol de México. The album was produced and directed by Miguel Blasco, and written mostly by José Ramón Flórez, Gian Pietro Felisatti and Cesar Valle. Most of the album's composition is primarily "a light and danceable pop", although it includes some elements of pop rock, new jack swing, new wave and a couple of ballads. The album's title has been stuck as Rubio's nickname throughout the Spanish-speaking world ever since.
Anthony "Tony" Moran is an American DJ, record producer, remixer, singer and songwriter known for remixing popular songs. In 2007, he hit number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart twice with "Walk Away" featuring Kristine W and "Keep Your Body Working" featuring Martha Wash. Moran also has a total of seven number one hits on the Billboard Dance Club Songs music charts in the United States and he has recently had four number one Billboard chart hits in the years 2016 and 2017.
"Suavemente" is a song recorded and composed by Puerto Rican merengue singer Elvis Crespo on his first solo album, Suavemente, which followed his departure from Grupo Manía. Released as the lead single, "Suavemente" reached number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks on May 16, 1998, and remained atop the chart for six weeks. Crespo re-recorded it with Spanglish lyrics. The song also hit the Billboard Hot 100 as well as received a Premios Lo Nuestro award and two Latin Billboard Music Awards the following year. "Suavemente" was the tenth best-performing Latin single of 1998. The song has been covered by several artists, some of whom also charted.
The Best Of is the first compilation album by American recording artist CeCe Peniston, released on March 2, 1998, by A&M Records in the overseas. It contains thirteen versions of her hit singles from 1991 to 1997. As the compilation was the singer's closing release under her contract with A&M, it didn't feature any new material. To increase the appeal of the product, the label included alternate, dancefloor remixed takes of Peniston's popular songs from her previous studio albums. Finally (1992), Thought 'Ya Knew (1994) and I'm Movin' On (1996).
"Loca" is a song by Dominican singer, El Cata. It achieved mainstream success by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, who recorded a cover taken from her ninth studio album, Sale el Sol (2010). It was released by Epic Records as the lead single from the album. The Spanish-language version features Dominican rapper El Cata, and was released on 10 September 2010, while the English-language version features British rapper Dizzee Rascal, and was released on 13 September 2010. It was written and produced by Shakira, with additional songwriting from Edward Bello, Armando Pérez, and Dylan Mills. The song is a Latin pop and merengue track that lyrically describes Shakira's eccentric infatuation with a man. In August 2014, a senior US district judge found "Loca" to have been indirectly plagiarised from "Loca con su Tiguere", a mid-1990s song composed by Dominican songwriter Ramon "Arias" Vasquez. The case was dismissed in August 2015 after it was found that Vasquez had fabricated the evidence he had presented in court.
Michael J. Mullins is an English lead vocalist, backing singer and songwriter, best known as the lead singer of salsa band Modern Romance (1982–85). Modern Romance achieved eight top 40 singles and two hit albums. After the band called it quits in 1985, Mullins continued working within the music industry, most notably as a backing singer for Cliff Richard. He can be seen singing with Cliff Richard live on Top of the Pops and on the Christmas number one single "Mistletoe and Wine" (1988). Mullins has since performed with Alan Parsons as part of The Alan Parsons Project.
Juanes: MTV Unplugged is the second live album of Colombian singer Juanes. It was recorded before a live audience at the New World Symphony Center in Miami Beach, Florida, on February 1, 2012, and was released by Universal Music Latino on May 29, 2012. The album includes featured performances by the Spanish composer Joaquín Sabina and the Brazilian singer Paula Fernandes. The album features rearranged takes on Juanes' hit songs like "Me Enamora", "La Camisa Negra" and "A Dios le Pido". The first single of the live album was released on March 5, 2012, called La Señal, which became a hit in Latin America. The second single was "Me Enamora", with new instrumental arrangements, and was released two days after of the album's release. The album featured three new songs, one of which was a collaboration with Joaquín Sabina. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums Chart and won the 2012 Latin Grammy for Album of the Year. This was the third time he won Album of the Year at the Latin Grammys.
"The Question" is the second single by Concept of One from the album of the same name, released in 1990 with the participation of freestyle singer Noel Pagan. Although the song only achieved moderate success on the charts entering only the dance singles chart, the song became one of Noel's most popular, where he still includes it in his live shows.
Concept of One is the debut album of the dance-pop and freestyle music group Concept of One, created by music producer Tony Moran. The album was released on 16 July 1993 by the Cutting Records label. It included the first hit single released by Tony Moran, "Dance with Me", and the song "The Question", which featured the participation of singer Noel Pagan.
T.P.E. Featuring Adam Marano is the debut album of the dance-pop and freestyle project T.P.E. created by music producer Adam Marano. The album was released in 1992 by Micmac Records. Of the four singles released from the album, the only one to succeed was "Then Came You", which reached No. 91 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1991. Other singles of this album were "Forever and a Day", released in 1992, "Sex U Down", released in 1993 and "Dance with Me", released in 1994. The album also contains the participation of freestyle singers that were already popular locally in Philadelphia such as Denine and Jade Starling, a member of the group Pretty Poison.
Over the Rainbow is the debut studio album from Italian-born American Dance singer Nocera, which was released through Sleeping Bag Records in 1987. The set, co-produced and co-written by Nocera and Floyd Fisher, featured additional contributions from songwriter/producer Peitor Angell, musician/programmer/composer Fred Zarr, producer/editor/mixer Chep Nuñez and Freestyle production duo The Latin Rascals. Two singles from this album became top ten hits on Billboard's Dance/Disco Club Play Charts: the #2 hit "Summertime Summertime" in 1986, and "Let's Go," which peaked at #8 in 1987. Another single, "Tell U So", was released in 1987. This was the only album released by Nocera as a follow-up was shelved due to the closing of Sleeping Bag Records in 1992.
