Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies

The Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies (CHA) was established in Sri Lanka in April 1997 to serve a membership and has since become a national service provider in the non-profit sector. CHA's field offices are located in 12 districts in the North, South and East in Sri Lanka. In addition its post-tsunami information management centres are located in all affected districts of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami. [1]

CHA represents the resources and work of the humanitarian sector in Sri Lanka. CHA's membership supports and intervenes in the sector across all parts of the country. [1]

CHA is served by a Staff of 153 including professionals with managerial and representational authority, headed by Executive Director Jeevan Thiagarajah. [1]

Karunasena Kodituwakku is a Sri Lankan politician, academic and diplomat. He is the current Sri Lankan ambassador to China, and non-resident ambassador to Mongolia and North Korea. He was former Sri Lankan Cabinet Minister of Education, Human Resources Development and Cultural Affairs and the third governor of the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. He also served as the vice chancellor of University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Sri Lankan ambassador to Japan and Republic of Korea.

Library damage resulting from the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake has been reported in six Asian countries. On December 26, the massive 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake struck off the northwest coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The resulting tsunamis killed more than 180,000 people. In addition to the loss of human lives, cultural institutions were destroyed in several Asian nations. Libraries on the Eastern coast of Sri Lanka and the northern province of Aceh on Sumatra were most severely affected by the disaster.

The Development Assistance Database (DAD) is an Aid Information Management System (AIMS) developed by Synergy International Systems, for tracking development aid and managing official development assistance with transparency and accountability. DAD is widely adopted AIMS which has been established in more than 35 countries worldwide in close cooperation with UNDP and respective governments.

National Library and Documentation Services Board is the agency of the government of Sri Lanka which helps maintains all state libraries around the country including the Colombo Library but the management of individual libraries in cities and towns are carried out by the Municipal Council.

Jeevan Thiagarajah is a Sri Lankan Tamil civil servant, human rights activist, social activist who is also the current Governor of the Northern Province.

Asoka Milinda Moragoda is a Sri Lankan politician and businessman. He is the current Sri Lankan High Commissioner Designate to India and, former Cabinet Minister and Member of Parliament representing the Colombo District from 2001 to 2010, who served as the Minister of Justice and Law Reform (2009-2010), Minister of Tourism (2007–2009); Minister for Economic Reform, Science and Technology and Deputy Minister for Plan Implementation and Development (2002–2004). His last political post was that of Opposition Leader of the Colombo Municipal Council and Senior Adviser to former President Mahinda Rajapakse.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sri Lanka

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sri Lanka refers to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its members in Sri Lanka. The first branch was organized in 1978 and has since grown to 5 congregations. Between 2015 and 2019 membership increased by roughly 20%.

The American-Batticaloa Development Fund (ABDF.org) is a small American-based non-profit development organization operating in the Batticaloa District of Sri Lanka. The organization sponsors a series of low-cost micro-development projects with the objective of improving the lives of recipients in an immediate and tangible way. Projects range from supplying clean drinking water, providing electricity, building roads, and supplying materials for schools.

Hayleys Sri Lankan conglomerate

Hayleys PLC was founded in 1878 and has since become one of Sri Lanka's largest multinational and diversified conglomerate. Hayleys single-handedly accounts for approximately 3.2% of Sri Lanka's export income, and 3.6% of the country's tea and 3.9% of its rubber production. With over 30,000 employees, Hayley was also the first listed entity in the country to surpass annual revenue of US$1 billion in Fiscal Year 2017/18. The company operates over 16 business sectors: eco solutions, hand protection, purification, agriculture, consumer and retail, leisure, textile manufacturing, construction materials, plantations, industrial solutions, power and energy, transportation and logistics, BPO, tea exports, projects and engineering, and investments and services. Hayleys comprises over 130 business units and subsidiaries, nine of which are publicly listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange.

People In Aid was an international, not-for-profit membership organisation with offices in the UK, Australia and East Africa. People In Aid no longer exists following its merger with HAP International on 9 June 2015 to form the CHS Alliance.

Arumugam Thiagarajah was a Sri Lankan Tamil teacher, politician and Member of Parliament.

Sahana Software Foundation is a Los Angeles, California-based non-profit organization founded to promote the use of free and open-source software (FOSS) for disaster and emergency management. The foundation's mission statement is to "save lives by providing information management solutions that enable organizations and communities to better prepare for and respond to disasters." The foundation's Sahana family of software products include Eden, designed for humanitarian needs management; Vesuvius, focused on the disaster preparedness needs of the medical community; and legacy earlier versions of Sahana software including Krakatoa, descended from the original Sahana code base developed following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. The word "Sahana" means "relief" in Sinhalese, one of two national languages of Sri Lanka.

All India Disaster Mitigation Institute

The All India Disaster Mitigation Institute (AIDMI) is a NGO registered in India. Located at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, it works on disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and disaster mitigation. It is a community-based ; action planning, action research and advocacy organization, working towards bridging the gap between policy, practice and research related to disaster mitigation. AIDMI have been working on six pillars: (i) Awareness generation, (ii) Capacity building, (iii) Policy advocacy, (iv) Direct implementation, (v) Research and publications, and (vi) Networking.

Prince Sarojini Manmatharajah Charles is a Sri Lankan Tamil civil servant who also served as former Governor of the Northern Province.
