Corey Hetherman is an American football coach who is currently the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Coaching career

Hetherman got his first coaching job at his alma mater Fitchburg State as the team's quarterbacks coach. [1] In 2007, Hetherman joined Springfield College as a graduate assistant. [2] In between the 2006 and 2007 seasons, Hetherman also served as the offensive coordinator for the Carinthian Black Lions, an intern for King's College, and as the offensive coordinator for the Wuerzburg Panthers. [3] Over the next five years, Hetherman served in various roles with Northeastern, Western New England, and Old Dominion. [4] In 2014, Hetherman was hired to be the defensive coordinator at Pace College. [5] After one year at Pace College, Hetherman joined Maine as the team's defensive line coach. [6] After one year as the defensive line coach for Maine, Hetherman was promoted to serve as the team's defensive coordinator. [7] In 2019, Hetherman was hired as the defensive coordinator at James Madison. [8] During the 2021 season with the Dukes, Hetherman was named the American Football Coaches Association's FCS Assistant Coach of the Year award. [9] In 2022, Hetherman joined the Rutgers Scarlet Knights as the team's linebackers coach. [10] In 2024, Hetherman got his first FBS coordinator job as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. [11]

He was an assistant coach under Jerry Kill for 21 years at Saginaw Valley State University, Emporia State University, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Northern Illinois University, and Minnesota—the last 16 as his defensive coordinator. The 2014 Minnesota Golden Gophers football team represented the University of Minnesota in the 2014 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by fourth-year head coach Jerry Kill and played their home games at TCF Bank Stadium. They were a member of the West Division of the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season 8–5, 5–3 in Big Ten play to finish in a tie for second place in the West Division. They were invited to the Citrus Bowl where they lost to Missouri. It was their first New Year's Day bowl game appearance in 53 years, their previous was the 1962 Rose Bowl.

Joe Harasymiak is an American college football coach who is the defensive coordinator at Rutgers University, a position he has held since 2022. He previously the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach at the University of Minnesota. In December 2015, Harasymiak became the youngest head coach in NCAA Division I football when he was named to the post at the University of Maine. He served as head coach of the Maine Black Bears from 2016 to 2018, leading them to a record of 20–15 in three season. His 2018 Maine Black Bears football team won the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division I Football Championship playoffs.
