The Cork Person of the Year awards were founded in 1993 to recognise outstanding achievements by people from Cork. [1] Each year 12 Cork persons of the month are chosen, although some months multiple people in the same area are selected. Then, in January of the following year the overall Cork person(s) of the year [2] are selected from this group.

Graham William Walker, better known by his stage name Graham Norton, is an Irish comedian, actor, author, and television host. Well known for his work in the UK, he is a five-time BAFTA TV Award winner for his comedy chat show The Graham Norton Show (2007–present) and an eight-time award-winner overall—he received the British Academy Television Award for Best Entertainment Performance three times for So Graham Norton. Originally shown on BBC Two before moving to other slots on BBC One, his chat show succeeded Friday Night with Jonathan Ross in BBC One's prestigious late-Friday-evening slot in 2010.
Henry Shefflin is an Irish hurling manager and former player who is the current manager of the Galway senior hurling team. In his playing career he was nicknamed "King Henry" because of his directive style, dominance, competitive spirit and leadership on the field. A versatile forward who started out in the corner, Shefflin made his name in more commanding positions as a centre or full-forward. He is widely regarded to be one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, with many former players, commentators and fans rating him as the number one player of all time.
Joseph Deane is an Irish retired hurler who played for East Cork club Killeagh. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for 13 years, during which time he usually lined out as a left corner-forward. Diminutive in size but noted for his deadly accuracy in front of goal, Deane is regarded as one of Cork's all-time greatest and most popular players.
Gerard Cunningham is an Irish hurling manager and former player who played for Cork Senior Championship club St Finbarr's. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for 20 years, during which time he lined out as a goalkeeper. Unchallenged in the number one position for his entire career, Cunningham is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time.
Brian Cody is an Irish former hurling manager and player and retired school principal. He managed the senior Kilkenny county team between 1998 and 2022, becoming the county's longest-serving manager and most successful in terms of major titles won. Cody is regarded as the greatest manager in the history of the game.
Thomas Kenny is an Irish hurling coach and hurler who plays for Cork Intermediate Championship club Grenagh. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for 10 years, during which time he usually lined out at midfield before ending his career at right wing-back. Kenny's midfield partnership with Jerry O'Connor is regarded as one of the greatest of all time.
Dónal Óg Cusack is an Irish hurling coach and hurler who plays for Cork Premier Championship club Cloyne. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for 16 seasons, during which time he usually lined out as a goalkeeper. Noted for his innovative and sometimes controversial approach as a player and his championing of the cause of player welfare, Cusack is also regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation.
Eoin Cadogan is an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer who plays for Cork Senior Championship club Douglas and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a full-back.
Patrick Horgan is an Irish hurler who plays for Cork Senior Championship club Glen Rovers and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a forward.
Noel McGrath is an Irish hurler who plays for Tipperary Senior Championship club Loughmore-Castleiney and at inter-county level with the Tipperary senior hurling team. He usually lines out as at midfield.
Aidan Walsh is an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer who plays for Cork Championship club Kanturk and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a full-forward.
The Women's National League is the top-level league for women's association football in the Republic of Ireland. It is organised by the Football Association of Ireland and the Women's Football Association of Ireland. The LFAI previously organised a women's national league known as the Ladies League of Ireland or the Women's League of Ireland during the 1970s and 1980s. The current league was founded in 2011 and the inaugural winners were Peamount United. The winners qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League.
Denise O'Sullivan is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for the American club North Carolina Courage of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and the Republic of Ireland national team which she has represented 80 times. She started her career with the Irish club Wilton United and joined the newly-formed Cork City at the outset of the Women's National League (WNL) in 2011. She also played for Peamount United in the County Dublin club's UEFA Women's Champions League campaigns in 2011 and 2012. In July 2013, she signed her first professional contract with Glasgow City of the Scottish Women's Premier League (SWPL).
Joanne O'Riordan is an Irish activist and sports journalist who contributes to The Irish Times. From Millstreet in County Cork, she is one of seven currently living people born with the condition Tetra-amelia syndrome. She has addressed the United Nations and discussed technology with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Apple. She was named "Person of the Year" in both 2012 and 2013.
Séamus Harnedy is an Irish hurler who plays for East Cork Championship club St Ita's, divisional side Imokilly and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a centre-forward.
The Lo Nuestro Award for Artist of the Year is an honor presented annually by American network Univision. The Lo Nuestro Awards were first awarded since 1989 and was established to recognize the most talented performers of Latin music. The nominees and winners were originally selected by a voting poll conducted among program directors of Spanish-language radio stations in the United States and also based on chart performance on Billboard Latin music charts, with the results being tabulated and certified by the accounting firm Deloitte. At the present time, the winners are selected by the audience through an online survey. The trophy awarded is shaped in the form of a treble clef.
Cian Lynch is an Irish hurler who plays as a center forward for Limerick Championship club Patrickswell, where he has held the role of captain, and the Limerick senior team. Recognised for his exceptional skill level but remaining the ultimate team player, he is widely considered one of the best players in the current game and has often been described as a "midfield magician".
Tadhg de Búrca, sometimes referred to as The Tadhger, is an Irish hurler who plays for Waterford Intermediate Championship club Clashmore–Kinsalebeg and at inter-county level with the Waterford senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a centre-back having previously enjoyed a role as a sweeper.
Karen Duggan is an Irish footballer who plays for Peamount United of the Women's National League (WNL). She has previously played for UCD Waves and the Republic of Ireland women's national football team. Between 2013 and 2016 Duggan was selected for the WNL Team of the Season for four successive seasons. She was the only player selected all four seasons. In 2015–16 she was also WNL Senior Player of the Season. Duggan has also played camogie at club, university and county level.
Daryl Jeremiah Horgan is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a winger for League Two club Stevenage on loan from Wycombe Wanderers and the Republic of Ireland national team.
