Cornitos is an Indian snack brand [1] known for its nacho crisps and other snack products. Established in 2009, [2] Cornitos has become a significant player in the Indian snack food industry. Cornitos has a strong market presence in India and is expanding its footprint globally. [3]

History

Cornitos was founded by Vikram Agarwal [4] [5] under the umbrella of Greendot Health Foods Pvt. Ltd. Agarwal was inspired to start the brand after trying tortilla chips for the first time while visiting the United States. [6] The brand was created with the vision of introducing Mexican-inspired nacho crisps to the Indian market, a niche that was largely unexplored at the time. [6]

At its inception, the brand marketed towards a younger, health conscious demographic. [6]

The brand redesigned their packaging in 2011. [6] By 2021, the brand was selling in 300 cities across India. [7]

A tortilla chip is a snack food made from corn tortilla, which are cut into triangles and then fried or baked. Corn tortillas are made of nixtamalized corn, vegetable oil, salt and water. Although first mass-produced commercially in the U.S. in Los Angeles in the late 1940s, tortilla chips grew out of Mexican cuisine, where similar items were well known, such as totopos and tostadas.

Tayto Snacks is a crisp and popcorn manufacturer in Ireland, founded by Joe Murphy in May 1954 and owned by German snack food company Intersnack. It owns several brands, including its leading product of Tayto Crisps for which it invented the first flavoured crisp production process. The first seasoned crisps produced were Cheese & Onion. Companies worldwide sought to buy the rights to Tayto's technique. Tayto crisps are a cultural phenomenon throughout Ireland, so much so that in November 2010, Tayto opened their own theme park called "Tayto Park" near Ashbourne.

However, the CC's brand returned to New Zealand shelves for a limited run in 2019, and will return for a second run in 2023. CC's are 100% Australian manufactured.

Takis are a Mexican brand of flavored rolled tortilla chips by Barcel, a subsidiary of Grupo Bimbo. Fashioned after the taquito, it comes in numerous flavors, the best selling of which is the chili-lime "Fuego" flavor, sold in distinctive purple bags. Besides the rolled corn chips, Takis produces other snacks with the same flavor lines, including different potato chip varieties, corn "stix", popcorn, and peanuts.
