corto.alto is a music project formed in Glasgow by multi-instrumentalist Liam Shortall. [1]

The debut album "Bad With Names" was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize "Album Of The Year" 2024. [2] [3] Shortall has some Spanish ancestry and the moniker corto.alto in Spanish translates as short.tall (a pun on his last name, Shortall). [4] [5]

People

The band comprises Liam Shortall (trombone, bass guitar, effects), Graham Costello (drums) from STRATA, Fergus McCreadie (keys) and various horn players including James Copus, Harry Weir and Mateusz Sobieski. [1] [6]

He died from cancer in 2005, fifteen months after the release of his fifth album Grit.

<i>Forest Floor</i> 2022 studio album by Fergus McCreadie

Forest Floor is the third studio album by Scottish jazz pianist Fergus McCreadie, released on 8 April 2022 by Edition Records. The album was recorded 6–8 July 2021 by McCreadie, bassist David Bowden, and drummer Stephen Henderson. It was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and won the Scottish Album of the Year Award. The lead single "Law Hill" was released 28 March.

His third album, Forest Floor, was shortlisted for the 2022 Mercury Prize, and won the Scottish Album of the Year Award and the Scottish Jazz Award for Best Album.
