Cory Stevens is a retired professional punter for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). As of 2016 he was an assistant coach (defensive line) for Bev Facey Community High School in Sherwood Park, Alberta, where he attended high school in the 1980s. College career

Stevens played for the Minot State Beavers as a punter and kicker from 1992 to 1995, while obtaining his Bachelor of Education. [3] The team competed in the Division II North Dakota College Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and was conference football champion in 1992, 1993, and 1994. [4] The 1992 team reached the semifinals of the NAIA Division II national championship and was inducted into the Minot State University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016. [5] Minot is now in the NCAA Division II Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Stevens was named to the All-Conference first team in 1993, 1994, and 1995; received honourable mention as an NAIA All-American scholar in 1994; and was named to the NAIA All-American scholar first team in 1995. [6] He was the 1995 NAIA Division II punting champion with 52 punts for 2,278 yards, an average of 43.8 yards per punt. [7]

Stevens holds the Beavers' team record for career points after touchdown kicks at 94 and punted for 8,832 yards on 220 punt attempts (second highest in team history in both categories). He also kicked six field goals on ten attempts. [8]

Professional career

Stevens was drafted 26th overall, in the third round of the 1996 CFL Draft, by the Calgary Stampeders and was signed to a three-year contract. [9] He was claimed off of waivers from the Edmonton Eskimos by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in July 1999, [10] and played two games as a punter for the Roughriders in the 1999 season. [11]

During those two games he punted 17 times for 681 yards. His longest punt was 63 yards and his average was 40.1 yards per punt. He scored one point on a rouge and made two tackles. [12]

The Minot State Beavers are the intercollegiate athletic teams of Minot State University (MSU), located in Minot, North Dakota. The Beavers compete at the NCAA Division II level. The university was previously a member of the NAIA's Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) and competed as an independent as a provisional member for the 2011–12 academic year before joining the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) in 2012. Minot State Beavers men's and women's ice hockey teams currently play in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), the men's team plays as is an independent team at the ACHA Men's Division I level and women's team at the ACHA Women's Division II level.

The Minot State Beavers football team is an NCAA Division II program that represents Minot State University in North Dakota. The Beavers are members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and home games are played on campus in Minot at Herb Parker Stadium.

Otherwise, he spent the bulk of this career playing with Saskatchewan Roughriders, having been signed as a street free agent in 2008.

Jerome Messam is a former professional Canadian football running back. He most recently played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the BC Lions. After being traded to the Edmonton Eskimos, he became the seventh Canadian running back since 1955 and the first since 2000 to rush for over 1,000 yards while also winning the CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian Award. Messam played college football for Graceland University.

Timothy Wayne Maypray II was an American professional gridiron football wide receiver. He most recently played for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League. Prior to playing for Ottawa, he was with the Montreal Alouettes, also of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Maypray returned kicks for the Alouettes during the 2010 season. During his CFL debut against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Maypray returned a missed field goal 125 yards for a touchdown.

Yonus Ramon Davis is an American football running back and kick returner. A native of Oakland, California, he played college football in San Jose State University and signed as a free agent to the BC Lions in 2010. The Lions cut Davis in 2011 after Davis was arrested in California for attempting to sell ecstasy, and Davis served 13 months in U.S. federal prison from 2013 to 2014.

Hugh O'Neill is a professional Canadian football punter and placekicker for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was originally drafted 11th overall by the BC Lions in the 2011 CFL Draft and spent parts of three seasons with the team. He has also been a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He played CIS football with the Alberta Golden Bears.

Christopher Milo is a former professional Canadian football placekicker. He was drafted 30th overall by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 2011 CFL Draft and signed with the team on June 1, 2011. He played CIS football for the Laval Rouge et Or. During his college career, Milo won the Vanier Cup twice and he has helped the Roughriders and Ottawa Redblacks both win a Grey Cup in the CFL.
