Covenant Voices is a South African mass gospel choir with traditional Zulu, jazz, R&B and contemporary music influences. It was founded in 2007 by international televangelist Tim Omotoso, who also mentors the group. The band has 80 members and is based in Durban, South Africa.
The choir was founded and named in 2007 by Rev. Tim Omotoso, after he hosted gospel music auditions. This became the first initiative of the Youth Empowerment Project (Y.E.P.) of Tim Omotoso Global Outreach. The singers had no previous training or experience when the choir was formed, just raw talent waiting to be polished.
In 2008, Covenant Voices gave birth to the girl band, Simply Chrysolite.
In November 2007, Covenant Voices performed at the T.O.G.O Gala Dinner held at the Durban ICC in South Africa.
Covenant Voices have also shared the stage with well-known South African gospel artists including Pastor Benjamin Dube, and Hlengiwe Mhlaba. They have performed at the Gagasi FM Christmas concert in December 2007, and the success of their performance credited them to perform again at the beach festival concert in the same year.
The song "Children (medley)" was nominated at the 2015 Gathering of Africa's Best awards [1] in London; the 2015 Utah Music Awards, US; and the 2015 SABC Crown Gospel Awards [2] in South Africa. Covenant Voices were nominated at the 2015 Utah awards [3] [2] [4] in the same category and at the 2015 SABC Crown Gospel Awards in the Best Engineered song category. [5]
Zolani Mahola is a South African singer, actress, storyteller and world-renowned inspiration speaker, now also known under the stage name The One Who Sings. She is most famously known as lead singer of the internationally-acclaimed pan-African South African music group Freshlyground since 2002. On 15 August 2019, Mahola officially announced the launch of her solo career while the Freshlyground band went on to have their last performance after 17 successful years together on 31 December 2019 at Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town.
Steve Bell is a Canadian singer/songwriter and guitarist based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He is among the best-known Christian musicians in Canada and is an accomplished songwriter and record producer. Before embarking on his solo career he was a long-time member of the group Elias, Schritt and Bell. In 1989, Bell founded the independent recording label Signpost Music along with Dave Zeglinski, long-time friend and co-producer. His first solo album, Comfort My People, was released on Signpost that same year. Bell now has twenty albums to his credit. For its re-release in Tin's debut album Calling All Dawns, it was performed by the Soweto Gospel Choir. The song, when rereleased, became the first piece of video game music to be nominated for and to win a Grammy Award.

He was arrested by the South African priority crimes unit, Hawks, on Thursday, 20 April 2017 at the Port Elizabeth International Airport.
