The Coweta County School District is the primary education system in Coweta County, Georgia, United States. Its headquarters are an antebellum building on Jackson Street (US 29) at Sprayberry Road in Newnan, Georgia. Coweta County is the 9th-fastest-growing county in Georgia and the 26th-fastest-growing in the country. The school system has grown from 9,210 students in 1984 to over 22,000 students in 2007. [4]
The school system operates eighteen elementary schools, six middle schools and three high schools, serving an area of 431 square miles (1,120 km2) with approximately 22,000 students and 1,200 teachers. [4] [5]
Roughly a week after the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, it was revealed Coweta school board member Linda Menk had attended the rally in Washington, D.C. [6] [7] Menk, after facing backlash from the community, refused to resign from her position, and urged her fellow board members that October to leave the Georgia School Boards Association after its parent organization, the National School Boards Association, sent a letter to the Biden presidential administration urging an investigation into the "growing number of threats of violence and acts of intimidation occurring across the nation." [8] Menk ended up resigning in late 2022. [9]

The Richmond County School System is an American public school system based in Augusta, Georgia. It is run by the Richmond County Board of Education which, under Article VIII, § V, Paragraph 2, requires that each school system be under the management and control of an elected board of education. As elected Constitutional officials of Georgia, the school board members are responsible for setting educational policies, employing school personnel, providing buildings and equipment, operating a transportation system, and disbursing school funds. The board of education meets in the Richmond County Board of Education building at 864 Broad Street in Augusta, Georgia. It serves consolidated Augusta-Richmond County, Georgia and the south Richmond County cities of Hephzibah and Blythe. The system has an enrollment of around 32,000 students, attending 36 elementary schools, ten middle schools, eight high schools, four magnet schools, and three other schools. The school board has its own police department which provides law enforcement services to all the district's schools.
Northgate High School (NGHS) is a public high school located in northeastern Coweta County near Newnan, Georgia, United States. Founded in 1996, Northgate is the newest of the three Coweta County School System high schools.
John Charles Eastman is an American lawyer and academic. Due to his efforts to overturn the 2020 United States presidential election, attempting to keep then-president Donald Trump in office and obstruct the certification of Joe Biden's victory, he has been criminally indicted, ordered inactive by the State Bar of California, and recommended for disbarment. Eastman has lost eligibility to practice law in California state courts, pending his appeal of the state bar judge's ruling that recommended him for disbarment. Eastman is also a co-conspirator in the federal indictment brought against Trump over his attempts to subvert the 2020 election results and prevent the certification of Biden's election.
Newnan High School (NHS) is a public high school in southwestern Coweta County, Georgia, United States. It is located south of Newnan's historic downtown district. Feeder schools include Evans Middle School, Smokey Road Middle School, and Madras Middle School. Madras also feeds into the nearby Northgate High School.

East Coweta High School (ECHS) is a public high school located in Coweta County, Georgia, United States. It serves about 3,300 students in grades 9 to 12 in the Coweta County School System. It is the second oldest high school in the county.
West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) is a public community college in Waco, Georgia. It is part of the Technical College System of Georgia and provides education for a seven-county service area that includes Carroll, Coweta, Douglas, Haralson, Heard, Meriwether, and Troup. WGTC is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award technical certificates of credit, and diplomas, with associate degrees being the highest level of award for which the College has been accredited.
