Portuguese hip hop, more commonly called hip hop tuga, is the Portuguese variety of hip hop music. It differs from mainstream hip hop because it has strong influences from African music, from Lusophone Africa, reggae, zouk and fado.

Her debut album, Dona de Mim, was released in 2018 and was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award for Best Portuguese Language Contemporary Pop Album.

Prazo Longo is the second album by Brazilian rock band Charlie Brown Jr. Like its predecessor, it was released through Virgin Records on March 6, 1999, and produced by Rick Bonadio and Tadeu Patolla. Totaling 25 tracks, it is Charlie Brown Jr.'s longest studio album; in an interview, vocalist Chorão explained that Preço Curto... Prazo Longo was recorded out of necessity, so the band could have more repertoire for the set list of their shows. Six of the album's tracks had previously appeared as teasers in the promotional EP Aquele Luxo!, released some months prior.

DV tribo is a rap supergroup formed Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Initially active from 2015 to 2018, they are considered one of the foremost exponents of the Golden Era of the Belo Horizonte rap scene. They are well known for their sharp societal criticism in their lyrics, which was a characteristic of all their members. Their most famous member is the rapper Djonga, who became famous after his productions with DV TRIBO and Coyote Beatz.
Hot e Oreia was a Brazilian rap duo made up of Mario Apocalypse "Hot" do Nascimento and Gustavo Rafael "Oreia" Aguiar, both from the state of Minas Gerais. They were strongly associated with producer Coyote Beatz, with whom they recorded much of their music, as well as with rap supergroup DV tribo. They were nominated for the "Clipão da P#rr@" award at the 2020 MTV MIAW Awards Brazil. The duo ended in January 2021 after Hot was accused of assault and abuse against his ex-girlfriend.
