He served as president of the National Academy of Engineering from 2007 to 2013 and the 15th president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1990 to 2004. Previously at the University of Michigan, he served as provost from 1989 to 1990 and dean of engineering from 1986 to 1989.

Reginald DesRoches is an American civil engineer who, as of July 1, 2022, serves as the president at Rice University. From 2020 until 2022, he served as provost of Rice. Earlier, beginning in 2017, he was the dean of engineering at Rice's school of engineering, and from 2012 to 2017, DesRoches held the Karen and John Huff Chair at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
H. Keith Moo-Young, also known as Keith M. Young, is the Vice Provost and Dean of the undergraduate education of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, one of America's preeminent engineering schools. From 2013-2018, he served as the Chancellor at Washington State University. From 2006-2013, he was the Dean of Engineering at California State University, Los Angeles. Dr. Moo-Young was the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies at Villanova University, where he also served as Interim Dean from 2004-2006.
Gilda A. Barabino is the president of the Olin College of Engineering, where she is also a professor of biomedical and chemical engineering. Previously, she served as the dean of The Grove School of Engineering at the City College of New York, and as a professor in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Chemical Engineering and the CUNY School of Medicine. On March 4, 2021, she became the President-Elect of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
