Craig Phillips AM (born May 1960) is a leading Australian sports administrator. In 2015, he was appointed the Chief Executive Officer at Australian Commonwealth Games Association (now known as Commonwealth Games Australia).

Personal

Phillips involvement in sport started at a young age and in 1979 he represented Australia at Modern Pentathlon Junior World Championships. [1] His educational qualifications include Diploma of Teaching at Australian College of Physical Education from 1978 to 1981 and Master of Business Administration from Southern Cross University from 1993 to 1999. [2]

Sports Administration career

Phillips was employed by the New South Wales Department of Sport and Recreation for eight years before joining the Australian Olympic Committee in 1990. [3] Phillips held senior leadership positions at the Australian Olympic Committee including Technical Director & Director of Sport (1990-2004) and Secretary-General (2005-2014). [4] [2] During this period, Sydney hosted the 2000 Summer Olympics and he played a major role in the management of twelve Australian Summer and Winter Olympic Teams from Barcelona 1992 to Sochi 2014. This led him to being the most capped Auistralian Olympic official. [1] [2] In June 2015, Phillips was appointed the Chief Executive Officer, Commonwealth Games Australia replacing Perry Crosswhite who held the position for more than 20 years. [3] [5] He was a Board Member of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation. [2] In 2019, he was elected to the Commonwealth Games Federation Sports Committee. [6]

Kurt Fearnley Australian wheelchair racer

Kurt Harry Fearnley, is an Australian wheelchair racer, who has won gold medals at the Paralympic Games and 'crawled' the Kokoda Track. He has a congenital disorder called sacral agenesis which prevented fetal development of certain parts of his lower spine and all of his sacrum. In Paralympic events he is classified in the T54 classification. He focuses on long and middle-distance wheelchair races, and has also won medals in sprint relays. He participated in the 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Paralympic Games, finishing his Paralympic Games career with thirteen medals. He won a gold and silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and was the Australian flag bearer at the closing ceremony.

Alex Baumann Canadian swimmer

Alexander Baumann, is a Canadian sports administrator and former competitive swimmer who won two gold medals and set two world records at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. In 2007, he was regarded by the national broadcaster as "the greatest swimmer in Canadian history", as the twin Olympic gold medals were Canada's first in swimming since 1912.

Raelene Ann Boyle is an Australian retired athlete, who represented Australia at three Olympic Games as a sprinter, winning three silver medals, and was named one of 100 National Living Treasures by the National Trust of Australia in 1998. Boyle was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996 and subsequently became a board member of Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA). In 2017, she was named a Legend in the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.

Joshua ("Josh") James Ross is an indigenous Australian track and field sprinter. He was national 100-metre (100m) champion for several years and competed for Australia at the 2004 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Ross is the fourth fastest Australian of all time with a personal best time of 10.08 seconds achieved on 10 March 2008, after Patrick Johnson, Rohan Browning and Matt Shirvington.

Kevan Gosper Australian sprinter

Richard Kevan Gosper, AO is an Australian former athlete who mainly competed in the 400 metres. He was formerly a Vice President of the International Olympic Committee, and combined Chairman and CEO of Shell Australia.

Ronald George "Ron" Harvey, is a former senior Australian public servant and sport administrator. He was the third director of the Australian Institute of Sport, serving in the role from 1987 until 1989.

Melissa Wu Australian diver

Melissa Paige Wu is an Australian diver and silver medal winner at the 2007 World Aquatics Championships, the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2008 Summer Olympics. She is an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder.

Miroslav "Miro" Šipek is an Australian rifle shooting coach. During his long and successful shooting career he was a champion of Yugoslavia 27 times in a range of disciplines. Glenn Robert Tasker was a leading Australian sport administrator particularly in swimming, tennis and the Paralympic movement. He was President of the Australian Paralympic Committee from 2013 to 2018.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXIII Commonwealth Games, is a multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth to be organised in a city designated by the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF). Helen Margaret Brownlee is an Australian executive with the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC). In 2013, she was the first woman to be elected as one of the vice presidents of the AOC executive board.
