Club Deportivo Vista Hermosa was a Salvadoran professional football club, based in San Francisco Gotera, Morazán. The team known as the Los Correcaminos ("Roadrunners") gradually worked their way upwards to win the El Salvador first division football championship of 2005. Vista Hermosa represented El Salvador in the CONCACAF and FIFA international competitions. The team's initial home stadium was the Estadio Luis Amílcar Moreno in San Francisco Gotera, Morazán. In 2009, the club moved to the Estadio Correcaminos.

The Apertura 2009 season was the twenty-third tournament of the Primera División de Fútbol Profesional since its establishment of an Apertura and Clausura format. FAS won the tournament for the 17th time in history, defeating Águila in the finale with a 3–2 victory in extra time. Isidro Metapán were the defending champions, having won their 3rd title the previous season and being the back to back champions. A total of 10 teams contested the league, with none getting relegated. The season began on August 14, 2009 and concluded on December 20, 2009. The 10 teams of the Primera División played 18 matches, playing each team twice. The top four teams qualified directly to the semifinals. Since Vista Hermosa and Isidro Metapán finished with the same points at the end of the regular season, a knockout playoff match was played to determine the last team to advance to the playoffs. Vista Hermosa clinched the final spot for the playoffs with a 1–0 victory over Isidro Metapán.

The 2021–22 Primera División de El Salvador, also known as the Liga Pepsi, is the 23rd season and 45th and 46th Primera División tournament, El Salvador's top football division, since its establishment of an Apertura and Clausura format. Alianza F.C. and C.D. FAS are the defending champions of both Apertura and Clausura tournaments respectively. The league will consist of 12 teams. There will be two seasons conducted under identical rules, with each team playing a home and away game against the other clubs for a total of 22 games per tournament. At the end of each half-season tournament, the top six teams in that tournament's regular season standings will take part in the playoffs.
