Crown Prosecutor (foaled 19 September 2015) is an Australian-bred New Zealand racehorse, best-known for an upset victory in the 144th running of the New Zealand Derby.
Crown Prosecutor is a dark bay/brown colt by the multiple Grade One-winning American shuttle stallion Medaglia d'Oro out of the Exceed And Excel mare Riptide. He was bred by Hesket Bloodstock in Victoria, Australia. He was bought for A$50,000 at the 2017 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale. [1]
Trained by Stephen Marsh, Crown Prosecutor began his career in October 2018 with sixth and third placings over 1200 metres and 1400 metres respectively. He stepped up in class for his third start and scored a front-running victory in the Group 3 Wellington Stakes. [2]
Unplaced in the Levin Classic and Waikato Guineas, Crown Prosecutor was a 105-to-one outsider for the New Zealand Derby at Ellerslie. However, with Craig Grylls in the saddle, he surged to the lead in the straight and held out determined rival In A Twinkling by a head. [3]
Carbine (1885–1914) was a champion New Zealand-bred Thoroughbred racehorse who won 30 principal races in New Zealand and Australia. He was very popular with racing fans, and sporting commentators of the day praised him for his gameness, versatility, stamina and weight-carrying ability, as well as for his speed. He was one of five inaugural inductees into both the New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame and the Australian Racing Hall of Fame.

His second Cox Plate win came at just his tenth career start. He started as favourite for the 2010 Melbourne Cup but finished third, in his first race past 2,040 metres. So You Think was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in 2019.

Harvester (1881–1906) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a career that lasted from 1883 to 1884 he ran thirteen times and won five races. In 1884 he was involved in the second, and most recent dead heat in the history of The Derby. At the end of his racing career, Harvester was sold and exported to stand as a stallion in Austria. He died in 1906 in Hungary.
