Current Account (TV programme)

Current Account is a British current affairs television programme that was broadcast from 1968 until May 1983 on BBC Television in Scotland. Among its various presenters were Donald MacCormick, George Reid and Kenneth Roy. Transmitted weekly on a Thursday at 20:30 it consisted of a one subject filmed or one studio report. Its editor was Matthew Spicer.

During the run-up to the 1979 Scottish devolution referendum it had a sister programme dealing only with politics called Public Account . [1]

Question Time is a topical debate programme, typically broadcast on BBC One at 10:45 pm on Thursdays. It is usually repeated on BBC Two and on BBC Parliament later in the week. If there is a Leaders special, it would be broadcast simultaneously on BBC News. Question Time is also available on BBC iPlayer. Whilst opinion polls show that the vast majority of Gaels feel they have been ill-served by broadcasting media, Scotland now has Gaelic broadcasting all over Scotland both on television and radio.

Public Account was a weekly political programme first transmitted on 6 January 1975 by BBC Television in Scotland. It was the sister programme to BBC Scotland's Current Account which covered general current affairs issues rather than politics.

BBC Alba is a Scottish Gaelic-language free-to-air public broadcast television channel jointly owned by the BBC and MG Alba. The channel was launched on 19 September 2008 and is on-air for up to seven hours a day. The name Alba is the Scottish Gaelic name for Scotland. The station is unique in that it is the first channel to be delivered under a BBC licence by a partnership and was also the first multi-genre channel to come entirely from Scotland with almost all of its programmes made in Scotland.
