DC Road Runners Club

The DC Road Runners Club is a non-profit regional group to promote running in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. It is a member of the Road Runners Club of America.

DCRRC was founded in 1961 by Hugh Jascourt.

DCRRC has 1,500 members principally from Virginia, the District of Columbia and Maryland. It conducts over 50 races each year, including the Washington Birthday Marathon and the National Capital 20 Miler. Members accumulate points in a summer Bunion Derby Series and a winter Snowball Series. Among the more noteworthy races created by the group are:

The Club sponsors a number of training programs, including a 10K program for novice runners in the spring, a 10-Mile training program in the summer, and a marathon training program in the summer and fall. The Club sponsors weekly long runs on Saturday morning starting from the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington, VA. These start at 8:00 am and at 7:00 am from Memorial Day until the end of September. The Club also sponsors weekly track workouts at 7:00 pm on Wednesday evenings at the Washington-Lee High School in Arlington.

Many DCRRC officers have taken prominent roles in the Road Runners Club of America.

His father Rodolfo Sr. came to the US as a mechanic through the Bracero program.

Marine Corps Marathon

The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is an annual marathon held in Arlington, Virginia and Washington, D.C.. The mission of the MCM is to promote physical fitness, generate community goodwill, and showcase the organizational skills of the United States Marine Corps.

Army Ten-Miler

The Army Ten-Miler is the second largest ten-mile race in the United States. It is held every October in Arlington, Virginia and Washington, DC, sponsored by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington.

Peachtree Road Race

The Peachtree Road Race is a 10-kilometer run held annually in Atlanta, Georgia. After being held on Independence Day from 1970 to 2019, the race will be held on Thanksgiving in 2020. The AJC Peachtree Road Race is the world's largest 10-kilometer race, a title it has held since the late 1970s. The race has become a citywide tradition in which over 70,000 amateur and professional runners try to register for one of the limited 60,000 spots. The event also includes a wheelchair race, which precedes the footrace. In recent years, the race also has a special division for soldiers stationed in the Middle East. The race attracts some of the world's elite 10K runners and has served as both the United States' men's and women's 10K championship.

The Crim Festival of Races is an annual road running event with several races and walking events. The original distance was 10 miles and is the marque race as "The Crim" with its infamous Bradley Hills and blue line to keep runners on course. The Crim has been held in August in Flint, Michigan since 1977. It draws runners from around the world from countries such as Kenya, Russia, and Ukraine. The race attracts approximately 50,000 people each year. The festival is one of the Flint Parade of Festivals.

The Medoc Trail Marathon is a marathon, 42.195 kilometres (26.219 mi) in length, held each October at Medoc Mountain State Park in Hollister, North Carolina. The race is run on a ten mile loop trail, with the second and third laps being run over a shorter version of the loop. The race is run in conjunction with a 10-mile run.

Michael Wardian marathon runner

Michael Wardian is an American marathoner and ultra-marathoner. He won the 2008, 2009 and 2010 US 50 km championships and the 2011 US 50 mile championship. In 2008, he won the U.S. National 100 km championship. Wardian also is the 2007 JFK 50 Mile winner, and won the National Marathon in Washington D.C. three consecutive years (2006–2008), and in 2010, 2011 and 2012. He ran in Maldives Addu marathon on 29 June 2018 and got first place and MVR12000. In 2020, Wardian won the Quarantine Backyard Ultra, running nearly 263 miles over the course of 63 hours without sleeping in a repetitive neighborhood loop in Arlington, VA to follow social distancing guidelines during the coronavirus pandemic.

Gemma Steel British long-distance runner

Gemma Steel is a British long-distance runner who competes in road running and cross country running competitions. She was the 2014 gold medallist at the European Cross Country Championships. She has represented Great Britain internationally in cross country, road and track events. She has won at three of the Great Run series events: the Great Ireland Run, Great Birmingham Run and Great Yorkshire Run. She has also won the Bristol Half Marathon and placed seventh at the 2012 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships.

Claire Hallissey British long-distance runner

Claire Hallissey is a British distance runner. She competed for Britain at the 2009 World Half Marathon Championships coming 25th. In 2010, she ran her first marathon, in New York and in 2011 ran the Chicago Marathon. In 2012, she finished 11th in the London Marathon.

Atlanta Track Club is a non-profit, running organization for the Atlanta metropolitan area. It hosts over 30 events a year including the Thanksgiving Day Atlanta Half Marathon/5K and the AJC Peachtree Road Race. Atlanta Track Club was established in 1964 and is the second largest running organization in the United States. Its mission is to inspire and engage the community to achieve health and fitness through running.

George Buckheit is a former distance runner. After an illustrious collegiate career running for Bucknell, during which he received All-American honors, he went on to compete for the United States in international competition and subsequently began coaching runners in the northern Virginia area. He is the founder and head coach of Capital Area Runners.

Serpentine Running Club is a cross-country running club based in Marylebone, London, United Kingdom. but uses a variety of places around London for training sessions. Most club sessions are based around the Seymour Leisure Centre and Hyde Park but track sessions, cycling and swimming training are located in different venues around London. It draws runners from across Greater London. The club was chosen as Athletics Weekly's club of the month in May 2013 in light of its growth to a membership of 2200 runners.

Thomas Osano is a Kenyan former long-distance runner who competed across track, road, and cross country running disciplines. His greatest individual honour was a 10,000 metres gold medal at the 1991 All-Africa Games. He also shared in a team gold medal with Kenya at the 1993 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships.
