Obinna Levi Ajuonuma (born 29 April 1985), professionally known as DJ Obi, is a Nigerian disc jockey and Syndik8 Record's official DJ. [1] He won Best World DJ at the 2011 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. [2] [3] He was nominated for 2016 The Future Awards Africa Prize for Creative Professional. [4] [3]

Early

Ajuonuma is from Ideato South, Imo State. He was born in Lagos State to Levi Chibuike Ajuonuma and Josephine Ajuonuma. [5] He had his early education in Nigeria at Rainbow College, before moving to the US where he studied broadcasting and communication at Connecticut School of Broadcasting. [3] [6]

Career

Ajuonuma started his career as a disc jockey while still in college studying media, broadcasting and communications at Worcester State University. [5] [3] He returned to Nigeria in 2012 to pursue full-time professional career as a disc jockey. [7]

Awards and recognition

Ajuonuma is an ambassador of Tag Heuer, Nike, Heineken, Jack Daniel's and Belvedere. He has performed at the MOBO Awards and MTV Africa Music Awards. [5] He won the Best World DJ at the 2011 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and was nominated in 2016 for The Future Awards Africa Prize for Creative Professional. [2] [4] He has appeared on the cover page of Bold Magazine Africa 2016 Christmas Edition. [8]

Jimmy Jatt Amu, known professionally as DJ Jimmy Jatt, is a Nigerian disc jockey who is revered as one of the pioneering Afrobeats hip hop DJs in Nigeria. He started out his music career as a rapper under the sobriquet Master J but delved into DJing after his failure in getting signed by a record label despite releasing a handful of songs including a demo recording. He is best known for his Jimmy's Jump Off concert, an event he started in 2008 to become one of the most attended entertainment events in Nigeria. In 2006, he won the Hip Hop World Hall of Fame award at the maiden edition of The Headies for his contribution to hip-hop in Nigeria.

Michael Babatunde Adeyinka, also known as DJ Tunez is a Nigerian-American disc jockey. In 2015, DJ Tunez was asked by Wizkid to join Starboy Entertainment, as the official label DJ, DJ Tunez's first production was in 2016's Iskaba, a contagious hit song with Wande Coal. He has collaborated with other acts such as Wizkid, Sarz, Burna Boy, Busiswa, Reekado Banks, Damibliz, Omah Lay and many more.

Ayorinde Kehinde Okiki, known professionally as DJ Kaywise is a Nigerian disc jockey and record producer. Kaywise broke into the mixtape market in Alaba in the year 2010. He has since gained prominence as a DJ in Nigeria and has released chart topping songs with many Nigerian music stars.
