Daily Kawish is a Sindhi-language daily newspaper in Pakistan. [1]

History

The newspaper was founded in 1990 and is part of the Kawish Group of Publication. [1] [2] Muhammad Aslam Kazi is the newspaper's founder. [2] It is the only newspaper that is published in the Sindhi language on a large scale. [2]

Qazi Abdul Majeed Abid or Qazi Abid, was the father of Former National Speaker Fahmida Mirza and former member of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Daily Ibrat Newspaper Kazi Asad Abid. He died due to lung cancer on 27 August 1996. He was a prominent politician and journalist from Hyderabad, Sindh, Pakistan. Qazi Abid held several positions in the Federal Cabinet of numerous Pakistani Prime Ministers. His positions included Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Federal Minister of Education, Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture, and Federal Minister for Water and Power. He was the publisher of the Daily Ibrat, a Sindhi newspaper, which is still published by his son Qazi Asad Abid. His excellence in the field of journalism was recognized formally when he was awarded the Writers' Forum Award in 1985.

Zulfiqar Shah is a civil rights activist, journalist and writer of Sindhi origin. He was forced by the Pakistan Army to unlawfully leave the country and close down The Institute for Social Movements, Pakistan in May 2012. He resettled in Nepal, where the UNHCR approved him for refugee status. In Kathmandu, he began freelancing with newspapers and websites on the issues of Pakistan, particularly concerning Sindh and the restive province of Balochistan. He was insurrected in his house in Kathmandu and was given heavy metal poison by the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI with local facilitation; however he was rescued by local doctors. He was forced to leave Nepal, thus he left for Pakistan in December 2013. In Pakistan, he again was persecuted and threatened to be killed. He went India for medical treatment on 11 February 2013, where he was not only denied appropriate health treatment at the behest of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, but was also harassed by high commission officials. He, along his wife Fatima Shah, gave a protest sit-in for 285 days near the Parliament of the Republic of India in defiance of the threats against his life committed by the Pakistan High Commission and its facilitation by the Indian authorities.

Abdul-Majid Bhurgri is the founder of computing in the Sindhi language. He hails from Larkano, Sindh, Pakistan, and now lives in Seattle, USA. His work from 1987 to 1988 enabled the use of Sindhi on personal computers and revolutionized the Sindhi printing and publishing industry and largely with his work the later upcoming Sindhi generation helped further digitize it.

Sindh TV News or Sindh Television News is a Sindhi television channel. It's a news channel which telecast news, news reports and current affair programs. The management of Dolphin Media House announced to launch a news channel and its testing transmission was started in October 2004. The channel did cover historical and archaeological sites of Sindh and other sites in Pakistan, so it was considered as a first documentary TV channel of Pakistan. Notable Sindhi journalists such as Ishaq Manrio, Hassan Dars, Bukhshan Mehranvi and Imdad Soomro did cover the documentary programmes. The owners of the channel are Dr.Karim Rajpar and Ajeet Kumar Ahuja.

Muhammad Ali Kazi also known as Ali Kazi is a Sindhi journalist and news anchor from Pakistan. He was born in the political and media business family of Hyderabad, Sindh and is the youngest son of Muhammad Akber Kazi, former Sindh Provincial Home minister. He started his journalistic career at the age of 21 years. In 1990, along with his elder brother Aslam Akbar Kazi, he launched Daily Kawish as a morning newspaper from Hyderabad. In 2002 Kawish group launched the first-ever Sindhi language satellite channel KTN and Kazi became its CEO. This media group has now three channels; KTN News, KTN Entertainment and Kashish Music Channel.

Ustad Allah Dino Noonari was a popular Pakistani classical singer, belonged to Sindh Pakistan. He was famous as a singer of Kafi, a form of poetry of Sindhi and Siraiki languages.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Zeb-un-Nissa (singer)</span> Pakistani singer (died 2019)

Zeb-un-Nissa was a Sindhi folk singer of Pakistan. She was among the leading female singers of Sindh during the period from 1960s to 1990s. She had sung hundreds of Sufi songs which were recorded by Radio Pakistan Hyderabad.

Rubina Qureshi, TI was a Pakistani Sindhi language folk singer. She was popularly known as Nightingale of Sindh as she performed most of her songs in Sindhi, Urdu, Punjabi and Saraiki languages.

Tarique Ashraf was a Pakistani writer and publisher. He was the owner of Suhni printing press and editor-in-chief of Suhni Literary Magazine. His other works include his novel Meero Dharial and Jail Dairy. Ashraf introduced Sindhi short story writer Amar Jaleel by publishing his stories. Ashraf published Suhni's special edition called Amar Jaleel Number to promote him.

Syed Murtaza Dadahi was a Sindhi Language poet. His poetry has been sung by many folk singers of Sindh. He penned down eight books comprising different genres of his poetry. He was recipient of Pride of Performance award from Government of Pakistan in 2017.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hayat Ali Shah Bukhari</span> Pakistani dramatist and journalist

Syed Hayat Ali Shah Bukhari was a Pakistani radio, TV and film artist, dramatist and film director. He wrote more than 200 serials and plays for radio and TV channels. He also served as a journalist and columnist. He was associated with the Sindhi-language DailyIbrat at the time of his death in 2020.

Hussain Bakhsh Khadim also spelt as Hussain Bux Khadim, was a Sindhi language folk singer and poet.
