The Metropolitan Rapid Transit or MRT is a mass rapid transit system serving the Bangkok Metropolitan Region in Thailand. The MRT system comprises two fully operational rapid transit lines and one fully operational monorail line. One monorail line is in trial operation, with another rapid transit line under construction. The MRT Blue Line, officially the Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line, between Hua Lamphong and Bang Sue was the first to open in 2004 as Bangkok's second metro system. The MRT Blue line is officially known in Thai as rotfaifa mahanakhon (รถไฟฟ้ามหานคร) or "metropolitan electric train", but it is more commonly called rotfai taidin (รถไฟใต้ดิน), literally, "underground train" as it was distinguished by the BTS Skytrain as being completely underground, when its first section between Hua Lamphong to Bang Sue opened.
New Carrollton station is a joint Washington Metro, MARC, and Amtrak station just outside the city limits of New Carrollton, Prince George's County, Maryland located at the eastern end of the Metro's Orange Line. The station will also serve as the eastern terminus of the Purple Line, currently under construction, and is adjacent to the Capital Beltway.
The Tel Aviv Light Rail, also known as Dankal is a mass transit system for the Tel Aviv metropolitan area in central Israel. The system will include different modes of mass transit, including rapid transit (metro), light rail transit (LRT), and bus rapid transit (BRT). Overseen by the government agency NTA, the project will complement the intercity and suburban rail network operated by Israel Railways.
The Purple Line is a 16.2-mile (26.1 km) light rail line being built to link several Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C.: Bethesda, Silver Spring, College Park, and New Carrollton. Currently slated to open in 2027, the line will also enable riders to move between the Maryland branches of the Red, Green, and Orange lines of the Washington Metro without riding into central Washington, and between all three lines of the MARC commuter rail system. The project is administered by the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), an agency of the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), and not the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), which operates Metro.
Berwyn is a temporarily closed 'L' station on the CTA's Red Line. It is located at 1121 West Berwyn Avenue in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The adjacent stations are Bryn Mawr, located about 3⁄8 mile (0.60 km) to the north, and Argyle, about 1⁄3 mile (0.54 km) to the south, both still in service and serving as alternate stations. Four tracks pass through the station, but there is only single island platform in the center of the tracks. The two western tracks are temporarily out of service for construction and trains on both the Red and Purple Lines pass Berwyn on the eastern tracks without stopping. When it reopens, it will consist of an island platform with Red Line trains stopping on the inner tracks and Purple Line Express trains bypassing the station on the outer tracks. Berwyn is named for the Berwyn station in the community of the same name, which is west of Philadelphia. Many of the roads in the Edgewater neighborhood are named after stations on the former Pennsylvania Railroad Main Line.
The Purple Line is a 6.6-mile (10.6 km) METRORail light rail/streetcar route operated by METRO in Houston, Texas, serving Southeast Houston. The line opened on May 23, 2015.
The MRT Purple line or MRT Chalong Ratchatham line is Bangkok's fifth rapid transit line, following the Sukhumvit Line, Silom Line, MRT Blue Line, and Airport Rail Link. The line is 23 km (14 mi) long, serving the north-western area of Bangkok running from Tao Poon to Klong Bang Phai in Nonthaburi Province.
The Purple Extension Transit Project, formerly known as the Westside Subway Extension and the Subway to the Sea, is a construction project in Los Angeles County, California, extending the rapid transit D Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system from its current terminus at Wilshire/Western in Koreatown, Los Angeles, to the Westside region. The project is being supervised by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). The subway has been given high priority by Metro in its long-range plans, and funding for the project was included in two county sales tax measures, Measure R and Measure M.
Wilshire/La Cienega station is an under construction, underground rapid transit station on the D Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system in Beverly Hills, California, at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard. It is in the design/construction phase of the D Line Extension project. Deep tunneling is proceeding westward beneath Wilshire Boulevard from the Fairfax construction site toward the La Cienega station site. Originally the project was slated for completion in 2023. The station's opening is now scheduled for 2025.
The Pink Line of Namma Metro is under construction and will form part of the metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The 21.25 km (13.20 mi) line connects Kalena Agrahara station on Bannerghatta road in the south with Nagawara station on Outer Ring road in the north. The Pink Line is mostly underground but also has a 6.98 km (4.34 mi) elevated section and a 0.48 km (0.30 mi) at-grade (surface) section. There are 18 stations on the line of which 12 are underground and 6 are elevated. Pink Line will have an interchange with the Purple Line at MG Road station. It will also have interchanges with the Yellow line at Jayadeva Hospital station and with the Blue Line at Nagawara. Both these lines are under construction. The entire line is planned to open at the end of March 2025.
Wilshire/Rodeo station is an under construction, underground rapid transit station on the D Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is currently under construction as part of the D Line Extension project, in Beverly Hills, California. Construction started in 2018 as part of Section 2 of the extension project. It is slated to open in 2026.
Lyttonsville is a light rail station that is currently under construction in the Lyttonsville neighborhood of Silver Spring, Maryland. It will be part of the Purple Line in Maryland. The station will be located at Lyttonsville Place.
16th Street–Woodside is a light rail station that is currently under construction in the Woodside neighborhood of Silver Spring, Maryland. It will be part of the Purple Line in Maryland. The station will be located at 16th Street.
Silver Spring Library is a light rail station that is currently under construction. It will be part of the Purple Line in Maryland.
Piney Branch Road is a light rail station that is currently under construction. It will be part of the Purple Line in Maryland. The station will be located at the intersection of Piney Branch Road and University Boulevard.
Adelphi Road–UMGC–UMD is a light rail station that is currently under construction. It will be part of the Purple Line in Maryland. The station will be located on the west border of the University of Maryland at the intersection of Adelphi Road and Campus Drive.
Campus Drive–UMD is a light rail station that is currently under construction. It will be part of the Purple Line in Maryland. The station will be located at the intersection of Campus Drive and Library Lane on the campus of the University of Maryland.
Riverdale Park North–UMD is a light rail station that is currently under construction. It will be part of the Purple Line in Maryland. The station will be located at the intersection of River Road and Haig Drive on the eastern campus of the University of Maryland in the M Square Research Park.
The College Park–Bethesda Line, designated Route J4, is a rush hour-only MetroExtra bus route operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority between the College Park–University of Maryland station of the Green and Yellow Lines of the Washington Metro and Bethesda station of the Red Line of the Washington Metro. The J4 operates throughout the neighborhoods in Prince George's and Montgomery counties in Maryland. This line currently runs along construction of the upcoming Purple Line between College Park and Bethesda.
Westwood/UCLA station is an under construction, underground rapid transit station on the D Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station will be located under Wilshire Boulevard between Veteran Avenue and Westwood Boulevard, with the main station entrance to the west of Gayley Avenue. Other entrances will be located on the north and south sides of Wilshire Boulevard and the west side of Westwood Boulevard.
