The Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club is a yacht club located in Oak Point, Texas (United States), on the shore of Lewisville Lake. [1] [2] [3]

History

The club was founded as Dallas Sailing Club (DSC) in 1928 on White Rock Lake. [4] When White Rock Lake dried up in 1956, the Dallas Sailing Club, together with some members of the Corinthian Sailing Club decided to move to Lewisville Lake under the name Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club. [5]

Fleets

The club has hosted active fleets of Snipe, Lightning, Pearson Ensign, Rebel, Longhorn, Tigercat, Sunfish, Lone Star 16, Victory 21, Thistle, Omega, 470, Laser, Catalina 22 and J/22. The J/24 class is active at the club in 2016 going forward.

The Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge (LLTB) is a 1.7 mile (2.7 km) tied arch bridge crossing Lewisville Lake in Denton County, Texas, USA. The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) worked cooperatively with Denton County to plan and design a toll bridge across the northwestern arm of Lewisville Lake. The four-lane toll bridge connects Swisher Road in Lake Dallas to Eldorado Parkway in Little Elm, Texas. The Lewisville Lake Corridor is approximately 13.8 miles long and is divided into eight sections constructed by Denton County, NTTA, TxDOT, Little Elm, and Frisco, Texas. The bridge is the second longest bridge in the North Texas area, behind the Texas State Highway 66 bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard between Rowlett and Rockwall approximately 30 miles to the southeast.

The Butterfly is a one-design sailing dinghy, originally designed for a crew of two, but now most commonly raced single-handed. It was designed in 1961 in Libertyville, Illinois by John Barnett. The 12-foot (3.7 m) hull is a scow design. The craft has a stayed 18-foot (5.5 m) mast set as a Marconi rig with a single mainsail with a 75-square-foot (7.0 m2) surface area. The cockpit is 15 ½" deep, exceptionally deep for this size of sailboat, and can accommodate an adult up to 6 feet in height.
