Daniel Giorgetti is a British composer of concert music and film and television scores . [1] Giorgetti was born 1971 in London and studied piano and composition at the London College of Music with Martin Ellerby, and the Royal College of Music with Edwin Roxburgh. His concert music has been performed in festivals and concert series in the US, the UK and mainland Europe – including the Park Lane Group Series, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and the Gaudeamus Foundation New Music Week in Amsterdam. It has also been broadcast on BBC Radio 3. His music has been awarded several prizes, among others the Worshipful Company of Musicians' Silver Medal, a Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust award and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival Young Composers' Award in 2000.He is famously known for The Hour (2011), Foyle's War (2002) and Safe House (2015). The Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival is a new music festival held annually in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. Since its foundation in 1978, it has featured major international figures of experimental and avant garde music, including guest composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen, Louis Andriessen, Terry Riley, Brian Eno, John Cage, Steve Reich, Jonathan Harvey, Helmut Lachenmann and Sir Harrison Birtwistle. Its programme also includes improvisation, installation, sound sculptures, happenings, new technology and free jazz.
Colin Matthews, OBE is an English composer of contemporary classical music. Noted for his large-scale orchestral compositions, Matthews is also a prolific arranger of other composer's music, including works by Berlioz, Britten, Dowland, Mahler, Purcell and Schubert. Other arrangements include orchestrations of all Debussy's 24 Préludes, both books of Debussy's Images, and two movements—Oiseaux tristes and La vallée des cloches—from Ravel's Miroirs. Having received a doctorate from University of Sussex on the works of Mahler, from 1964–1975 Matthews worked with his brother David Matthews and musicologist Deryck Cooke on completing a performance version of Mahler's Tenth Symphony.
