Daniel Musyoka Mutinda served as member of the National Assembly of Kenya for Kitui Central constituency between 1974 and 1979. [1] Born in 1942 in Kitui town, he attended Kitui School before proceeding to Syracuse University, New York, for his university studies. He later joined the University of East Africa to pursue a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the faculty of law in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Mutinda worked with Kaplan and Stratton Advocates, Nairobi, before contesting the Kitui Central parliamentary seat in 1974. He beat the incumbent, Eliud Ngala Mwendwa, to become the then youngest member of parliament in Kenya. He was appointed to cabinet by the late president Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, and served in the then ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Mutinda was re-elected to parliament in the 1979 Kenyan general elections but lost his seat to challenger Titus Mbathi in a subsequent election petition case. He was barred by the court from contesting the following general election held in 1983. In the 1983 elections, Titus Mbathi lost to Daniel Mutinda's elder brother, John Mutinda.Julius mwivithi nzuku was also on the race during this election.
Despite being free to contest the 1988 general elections, Daniel Mutinda opted not to, and has since kept away from active politics.

Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is a Kenyan politician who was the tenth Vice-President of Kenya from 2008 to 2013. Musyoka served in the government under the late President Daniel arap Moi as the Secretary of Kenya African National Union party (1980-1988), Assistant Minister for Works (1986-1988), Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly (1988-1992), Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1993 until 1998, Minister of Education (1998-2001); and subsequently, under the late President Mwai Kibaki, he was Minister of Foreign Affairs again from 2003 to 2004, then Minister of the Environment from 2004 to 2005. He was an unsuccessful candidate in the 2007 presidential election, after which he was appointed vice-president by Kibaki in January 2008.
Henry Pius Masinde Muliro was a Kenyan politician from the Bukusu sub-tribe of the larger Abaluhya people of western Kenya. He was one of the central figures in the shaping of the political landscape in Kenya. An anti-colonial activist, he campaigned for the restoration of multi-party democracy in Kenya in his later years.

David Musila is a Kenyan politician. He belongs to the Wiper Democratic Movement and was elected to represent Mwingi South Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya in the Kenyan parliamentary election of 1997. In 2013 he was elected as the first senator representing Kitui County.

Funyula Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of seven constituencies in Busia County. The constituency was established for the 1997 elections. At independence it was known as Busia Central represented in parliament by the Late James Machio till 1967 upon his death. Eliud Ngala Mwendwa was a Kenyan teacher and politician. He was a member of the Kenyan delegation to the 1960 Lancaster House Conference, which negotiated the country's independence from the United Kingdom. Mwendwa then served as Minister for Labour within President Jomo Kenyatta's first post-independence 15-member cabinet. He ultimately served as the Minister for Labour and Social Services from 1963 until 1974 under Kenyatta.
Dr. Julius Makau Malombe,EGH is a Kenyan politician and the first and current elected Governor of Kitui County. He is elected on a Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya (WDM-K) which he won the 2013 elections garnering 163,904 votes. He defended his seat on Wiper ticket in the 2017 general election but lost to Charity Ngilu coming third behind former senator David Musila however he recaptured the seat and won after the 9 August 2022 gubernatorial elections with 198,004 votes defeating former senator David Musila who had 114,606 votes and Jonathan with 10,639 votes. As the pioneer governor of Kitui he is credited with much of the development gains made in the region. On 12 December 2022 Dr. Malombe was awarded the Elder of The Golden Heart by President William Ruto.
