Danielle Tungane Cochrane is a Cook Islands public servant. In 2018 she was formally named acting Secretary of Education; she had been serving in an acting capacity since 2017 after Gail Townsend joined UNESCO. Cochrane, a native of Aitutaki, taught at Tangaroa College for some years, but returned to the Cook Islands in 2008 to become a curriculum advisor in the Ministry of Education. She briefly worked in human resources for Air Rarotonga, but returned to the Ministry in 2012 as Planning and Development Director. [1] She also serves on the Cook Islands National Commission for UNESCO. [2] Cochrane is also an active canoeist, and was a member of the team representing the Cook Islands at the 2011 Pacific Games. Anote Tong is an I-Kiribati politician for the Pillars of Truth party and environmental activist with half Chinese heritage, who served as President of Kiribati, from 2003 to 2016. He won the election in July 2003 with a slim plurality of votes cast (47.4%) against his older brother, Harry Tong (43.5%) and the private lawyer Banuera Berina (9.1%). The elections were contested by the opposition, due to allegations of electoral fraud but the High Court of Tarawa had confirmed that there was no fraud. He was re-elected on 17 October 2007 for a second term (64%). In 2012, Tong was reelected for a third term, although with a significantly smaller percentage than in the previous two elections.

Noonuccal was best known for her poetry, and was the first Aboriginal Australian to publish a book of verse.

Irina Bokova Bulgarian diplomat

Irina Georgieva Bokova is a Bulgarian politician and the former Director-General of UNESCO (2009–2017). During her political and diplomatic career in Bulgaria, she served, among others, two terms as a member of the National parliament, and deputy minister of foreign affairs and minister of foreign affairs ad interim under Prime Minister Zhan Videnov. She also served as Bulgaria's ambassador to France and to Monaco, and was Bulgaria's Permanent Delegate to UNESCO. Bokova was also the personal representative of Bulgaria's President to the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (2005–2009).

Lawrence Wong is a Singaporean politician who has served as minister for finance since 2021. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he is the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Limbang ward of Marsiling–Yew Tee GRC since 2015. He is a member of the party's central executive committee and the chairman of the PAP's charity wing.

Anne Herman, sometimes Anne Herman-Fua, is a Cook Islands public servant. She was named Secretary of Internal Affairs in 2018. She is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington, from which she received a degree in economics and commercial law, and the University of the South Pacific, from which she received an MBA, and has passed much of her career in the banking industry. She was CEO of the Cook Islands National Superannuation Fund, and spent five years working for the ANZ Banking Group. Herman is the niece of the Cook Islands Secretary of Health, Josephine Herman; the two were appointed to their roles at the same time by Prime Minister Henry Puna.

Diane Charlie-Puna is Cook Islands public servant. She was named secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure in 2018. She previously served as the ministry's director of corporate services.

Amami-Ōshima Island, Tokunoshima Island, northern part of Okinawa Island, and Iriomote Island (奄美大島、徳之島、沖縄島北部及び西表島) is a serial UNESCO World Heritage Site consisting of five component parts on four Japanese islands in the Ryukyu Chain of the Nansei Islands. The site was selected in terms of biodiversity for having a diverse ecosystem of plant and animal species that are unique to the region.
