Dannevirke Domain is a park of about 20 hectares on the eastern fringe of the town of Dannevirke, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. [1] Among its recreational facilities it includes a cricket ground.
The first recorded cricket match held at Dannevirke Domain was in January 1904, between teams from Waipukurau and Dannevirke, but the park was in use for sports for some years before then. [2] The first interprovincial cricket match on the ground came in March 1921 when Southern Hawke's Bay played Manawatu. [3] Between the 1920s and the 1980s, when Southern Hawke's Bay competed in interprovincial matches including the Hawke Cup, Dannevirke Domain was the team's home ground.
The ground held a single List A match in the 1992-93 Shell Cup when Central Districts played Otago, [4] which resulted in a victory for Otago by 16 runs. [5]
The Hawke's Bay cricket team, representing the Hawke's Bay region of New Zealand, played first-class cricket between 1883–84 and 1920–21, and competed in the Plunket Shield in the 1914–15 and 1920–21 seasons. The side has continued to appear in minor cricket and now competes in the Hawke Cup competition.
The Hawke Cup is a non-first-class cricket competition for New Zealand's district associations. Apart from 1910–11, 1912–13 and 2000–01 the competition has always been on a challenge basis. To win the Hawke Cup, the challengers must beat the holders, either outright or on the first innings in a drawn match, on the holders' home ground.
Anthony Warren Short is a former New Zealand cricketer who played three first class cricket matches and a single one day match for Central Districts between 1978 and 1980. A right-handed batsman, he struggled at first-class level, scoring only 96 runs from five innings – largely in a career-best knock of 33. He did, however, enjoy greater success as an all-rounder in District Cricket's Hawke Cup for Wairarapa, and as a bowler for Central District's under-23 team. He was also a very occasional right-arm medium bowler, who sent down a tidy yet wicket-less 64 balls.

Ashburton Domain is a cricket ground in Ashburton, Canterbury, New Zealand. The first recorded match on the ground came when Ashburton County played the touring Tasmania team in 1884. The ground later held its first senior match when Canterbury played Otago in the 1980/81 Shell Cup. Three further List A matches have been held on the ground, the last of which saw Canterbury play Central Districts in the 1988/89 Shell Cup.
Dudley Park is a cricket ground in Rangiora, Canterbury, New Zealand. The first recorded match on the ground came when North Canterbury played Central Otago in the 1963/64 Hawke Cup. A single Youth One Day International was played there in 1987 when New Zealand Young Cricketer played Australia Young Cricketers. The ground first held a List A match in the 1980/81 Shell Cup when Canterbury played Central Districts. Canterbury played six further List A matches there, the last of which came in the 1996/97 Shell Cup. Dudley Park has also hosted first-class matches, the first of which saw Canterbury play Wellington in the 1984/85 Shell Trophy. Fourteen further first-class matches have been held there, the last of which saw Canterbury play Wellington in the 2002/03 State Championship. The ground has twice held the final of the Shell Trophy, with Canterbury winning on both occasions.
Rangiora Recreation Ground is a cricket ground in Rangiora, Canterbury, New Zealand.
Knottingley Park is a cricket ground in Waimate, Canterbury, New Zealand. The first recorded match held on the ground came in 1902 when South Canterbury played North Otago. The ground later held a single List A match in the 1984/85 Shell Cup when Canterbury played Central Districts, which resulted in a 6 wicket victory for Central Districts.
Harry Barker Reserve is a cricket and hockey ground in Te Hapara, Gisborne, New Zealand, which is named after a former mayor of Gisborne. The first recorded cricket match held on the ground came in 1948 when Poverty Bay played Hawke's Bay in the 1948-49 Hawke Cup. The local council purchased the ground in 1962, prior to which it formed part of a nine-hole golf course.
