Danny Ellis (born 18 July 1947) is an Irish singer-songwriter and author. [1] [2]
Danny Ellis was born on 18 July 1947 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. He was sent to the Artane Industrial school in 1955 until 1963. At Artane he joined the Artane Boys' Band. [3]
As a professional trombonist, Ellis played with Irish showbands The Airchords (1964), The Jim Farley Band (1965-66), The Nevada Showband (1969), Dickie Rock's Miami Showband (1969-1971), and Stage 2 (1972-73). He also worked as a session singer in the famous Abbey road studios, recording demos for Les Reed. One of his recordings of a Les Reed song landed him in the English finals for Eurovision in 1989. In 2009 he released the album 800 Voices, an autobiographical account of his time in the Irish orphanage system. JPF, the largest independent music awards, honored him with the lyricist of the year award in 2009. His autobiography,"The Boy at the Gate", was released in September 2012 by Transworld, and reached no. 2 in Ireland for bestselling non-fiction. The book is scheduled for release in the US September 2013. [4]
Skid Row were an Irish blues rock band of the late 1960s and early 1970s, based in Dublin and fronted by bass guitarist Brendan "Brush" Shiels. It was the first band in which Phil Lynott and Gary Moore played professionally before finding greater fame with Thin Lizzy.

The Irish Showband was a dance band format popular in Ireland from the 1950s to the 1980s, with its peak in the 1960s. These bands typically featured seven to ten members, including a rhythm section, a brass section with various combinations of trumpet, saxophone, and trombone, and were fronted by lead singers, sometimes engaging in comedy skits. Their repertoire spanned rock and roll, country and western, dixieland jazz, big band tunes, Irish Céilí dances, Latin, folk, and more. Showbands were noted for their live energy, chart-topping covers, and sometimes choreographed performances. Originally touring within Ireland, successful bands later performed in Britain, the US, Canada, and on the German nightclub circuit and U.S. military bases in Europe.

The Script are an Irish rock band formed in 2001 in Dublin, by lead vocalist, keyboardist, and guitarist Danny O'Donoghue, lead guitarist Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power.
