Danny Ramirez is an American college baseball coach and former player. Ramirez served as the head coach of the Saint Peter's Peacocks baseball team from 2017 to 2019.

Playing career

Ramirez attended Bronx Community College in New York, New York. While with the Broncos, Ramirez played on a team that was the runner-up in the City University of New York Athletic Conference in 1994, but then won in 1995, [1] en route to a trip to the 1995 JUCO World Series. [2]

Coaching career

Ramirez coached several levels for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities from 1996 to 2001. In 2005, Ramirez became the head baseball coach of the La Salle Academy in New York City. [3] Ramirez was appointed the head coach of the Globe Institute of Technology in 2006. In the fall of 2007, Ramirez joined the Monroe College staff where he would remain an assistant until 2012. [4]

On September 9, 2016, Ramirez was named the head coach of the Saint Peter's Peacocks baseball program. [5] Ramirez's first team at Saint Peter's went 0–38. [6] Saint Peter's would go on to lose their first 77 games under Ramirez before finally winning 7–1 over Iona. [7] On May 23, 2019, Ramirez resigned as head coach at Saint Peter's. He compiled a 7–126 record over three seasons. [8]

Danny Almonte Rojas is a Dominican-American former baseball player who is currently an assistant baseball coach at Cardinal Hayes High School in New York City. Born in Moca in the Dominican Republic, Almonte was a Little League pitcher who threw up to 79 miles per hour (127 km/h). Considered a phenomenon as he led his Bronx team to a third-place finish in the 2001 Little League World Series, Almonte was revealed to have actually been two years too old to play Little League baseball. Although there were many allegations during the 2001 Series, the truth was not revealed until weeks later.

The Peacocks, led by 12th-year head coach John Dunne, played their home games at the Yanitelli Center in Jersey City, New Jersey as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 14–18 overall, 6–12 in MAAC play to finish in ninth place. Elnardo Julian Webster Sr. was an American professional basketball player who played one season in the American Basketball Association (ABA). He played college basketball for the Saint Peter's Peacocks. Webster played in the ABA for the New York Nets and Memphis Pros during the 1971–1972 season. He also played in the Lega Basket Serie A in Italy. At a height of 6 feet 5 inches (1.96 m), he played at the small forward position.

The 2019 NCAA Division I Baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began February 15, 2019. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2019 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2019 College World Series. The College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, ended on June 26, 2019. The Vanderbilt Commodores won the tournament, and were consequently named national champions.

The 2021–22 Saint Peter's Peacocks men's basketball team represented Saint Peter's University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Peacocks, led by fourth-year head coach Shaheen Holloway, played their home games at the Run Baby Run Arena in Jersey City, New Jersey, as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 22–12, 14–6 in MAAC play to finish in second place. They defeated Fairfield and Quinnipiac in the MAAC tournament, advancing to the championship game. There they defeated Monmouth to win the tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, for the first time since 2011, as the No. 15 seed in the East region.
