Dark Rivers of the Heart is a novel by Dean Koontz, published in 1994.
Spencer Grant is a man with a tainted, yet shadowy past with a lovable dog, Rocky whom he rescued after it was abused. Together they embark on a quest to find a life with a woman named Valerie Keene, whom Roy met in a nightclub. Grant and his dog come back to the club later to find out that the woman is late for work.
When Grant attempts to find her at her home, a SWAT-like team bombards the place, sending Grant into confusion. Grant is now determined to find Valerie, using his skills he learned as both a computer expert and from extensive training in the U.S. Army.
He searches for her in Las Vegas and is pursued by a secret and nameless government agency which is also looking for Valerie. Using vast amounts of diverted government funds and weapons, it can access any information it wants and easily create false identities for its agents. Neither the President nor the Cabinet knows of its existence and many of its support staffers think they are in legitimate agencies fighting drug dealers and terrorists. Spencer gets caught in a storm in the Nevada desert and is injured. He is rescued by Valerie, who has been tracking him with a homing device she hid on his truck after she saw him enter her house. She helps Spencer recover from injuries.
Meanwhile, Roy Miro, a high-ranking official in the agency, is the main antagonist who has been looking for Valerie for months. She is a threat to agency because her husband was the son of its head, and was murdered when he wanted to expose it. Using her excellent computer skills Valerie has kept ahead of the agency but it has been a constant flight. Roy, who enjoys killing anyone he considers imperfect, and the agency use a satellite to find Spencer and Valerie's location in the desert. He and some agents get into a helicopter and corner them in a shopping center.
While the agents are looking for them, Spencer and Valerie take over the agency's helicopter and fly out of Nevada to Colorado. They tie up the crew and steal a car to visit the house where Spencer lived as a child. When he was 14 years old he heard a noise in the night and went out to the barn in the backyard to investigate. Inside the barn he found his father, a famous artist, torturing a woman as part of a "project" in which he has killed many people, including his wife. Spencer found a gun but only wounded his father. His father was later sent to a mental hospital. Roy, expecting Spencer to go there to confront his personal nightmares, takes Spencer's father out of the hospital and flies to the Colorado house to confront Spencer and Valerie.
Spencer's father, who considers Roy to be insane, shoots him in the barn. That only paralyzes Roy. When the cowering Rocky turns and suddenly attacks his father Spencer uses the opportunity to fatally shoot him. He and Valerie leave the barn and shes uses access to a satellite heat beam to kill or scare off the other agents. Ultimately they and other victims of the agency start a new life helping an already organized resistance group against it. Meanwhile, Roy, who they thought dead, is recovering. He and another member of the agency, the daughter of its leader, plan to make her president. The fight continues.
Conspiracy Theory is a 1997 American political action thriller film directed by Richard Donner. Starring Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts and Patrick Stewart, the original screenplay by Brian Helgeland centers on an eccentric taxi driver who believes many world events are triggered by government conspiracies, and the Justice Department attorney who becomes involved in his life. The film was a financial success, but critical reviews were mixed.

Until Death is a 2007 American vigilante action film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and directed by Simon Fellows. It was released direct-to-DVD on April 24, 2007. Van Damme plays Anthony Stowe, a corrupt police detective addicted to heroin whom everybody hates. After being shot in a gunfight, he falls into a coma. Months later, he recovers and decides to use his second chance at life.
Sasha Valentine is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Nathalie Emmanuel. Sasha first appeared on-screen on 17 July 2006 as part of the newly introduced Valentine family. Sasha has been at the centre of many high-profile storylines including use of recreational drugs, a heroin addiction and a subsequent overdose, prostitution, a victim of a series of violent attacks, portraying a gangster's moll and binge drinking. In March 2010, Paul Marquess announced that 11 characters are to depart the show which included Sasha. Although it was initially reported Emmanuel was axed, Ricky Whittle confirmed she had planned to leave at the end of her contract. Emmanuel left in 2010 and was later credited on 1 December 2010 for a flashback episode.
Calvin Valentine is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Ricky Whittle. He arrived in July 2006 as a police officer with his mother Diane Valentine, his brother Sonny Valentine and his sister Sasha Valentine and made his final appearance on 21 May 2010 after he was murdered by Theresa McQueen. Whittle was credited for a flashback episode on 1 December 2010. Calvin appeared again as a ghost to tell his wife and Theresa's Cousin Carmel McQueen that his and Theresa's daughter, Kathleen-Angel McQueen, was fine with Theresa in February 2011.
Lauren Valentine is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Dominique Jackson. First appearing in 2007, Lauren was written out of the show in 2010 along with the rest of the Valentine family as part of series producer Paul Marquess' overhaul of the series.

Marlene King, the developer of the television series, in which she is portrayed by Torrey DeVitto. Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Spencer, RN is a fictional character from the ABC soap opera General Hospital, portrayed by Jacklyn Zeman. She debuted in December 1977, after playing Lana McClain on the sister-soap One Life to Live. Zeman went on to appear on General Hospital until 13 July 2010. The character is the sister of Luke Spencer and mother of Carly Corinthos. In February 2013, it was announced that Zeman would be returning to the role; she first appeared on March 22 and once again vacated the role on April 15. However, on October 22, it was confirmed that Zeman would be returning to the show, with her first airdate slated to be on November 27. Zeman continued in the role until her last appearance on April 27, 2023, shortly before her death on May 9 of that year.

Valerie Grant is a fictional character from Days of Our Lives, an American soap opera on the NBC network. The character was created by Pat Falken Smith and introduced as the black love interest for white character David Banning. The role was originated by Tina Andrews on October 27, 1975. Andrews was replaced by Rose Fonseca in the summer of 1977. Valerie and her family take David in when he is injured in a car accident and they soon fall in love. David and Valerie become engaged in the summer of 1976 but the romance is plagued by his infidelity, his ex-girlfriend Brooke Hamilton and her mother Helen's unwillingness to accept the relationship. When David's affair with Trish Clayton results in pregnancy, Valerie ends the relationship and takes a scholarship to medical school at Howard University in 1978. Actress Diane Sommerfield took over the role in 1981 when Valerie returns as a medical intern at the hospital. She becomes involved with Abe Carver which is plagued by Val's residual feelings for David and Abe's unwillingness to get married one day. The character is written out in 1982.
