Darren John (born 28 April 1987) is a London-based artist and image-maker whose primary concern as an artist is the value of creative imagination.
John has exhibited extensively since 2009 [1] and had his debut solo show Portal which took place at Proof Gallery London in March 2016. [2]
Alongside his personal art practice, Darren is a founder and lead artist at Absolutely Studio - a creative studio dedicated to artistic practice and painted application. [3] The studio has painted works on behalf of Sue Webster, Camille Walala, I Love Dust, Hattie Stewart, Tristan Eaton and many other notable artist and designers.
John is a dedicated skateboarder and has contributed multiple times to the Long Live Southbank campaign to preserve the undercroft skate spot at South bank. One such occasion was representing LLSB at the Royal Academy of Arts, producing artwork inspired by 70s California to coincide with their exhibition of works by Richard Diebenkorn and in particular his Ocean Park series of works. John's bold landscape appropriates the iconography of the cartoon with a visual language that aims to channel the mind set of creativity in all its spontaneity. His compositions are meticulous in detail and precise in their construction.
Miss Van, also known as Vanessa Alice, is a graffiti and street artist. Miss Van started painting on the street of Toulouse alongside Mademoiselle Kat at the age of 18. Today, she is now internationally known as a street and fine artist. Primarily, her work is marked by the use of unique characters, called poupées, or dolls. Tavar Zawacki formerly known as 'ABOVE' is an American abstract artist living and working between Berlin, Germany and Lisbon, Portugal. For twenty years (1996–2016) Tavar Zawacki created and signed all of his artworks with his street artist pseudonym, 'ABOVE'. Tavar was born and raised in California until the age of 19, at which time, Zawacki bought a one-way flight from California to Paris, France, bringing with him a backpack full of art supplies, all the money in his bank account (US$1,500), and a 'rise above your fears' approach to starting his art career. Starting in Paris in 2000, Tavar transitioned from painting traditional letter style graffiti of A-B-O-V-E, to his 'Above arrow' icon that represented his optimistic mentality to 'rise above fears, challenges, and anything holding you back from your goals.' See No Evil is a collection of works of public art by multiple graffiti artists, located around Nelson Street in Bristol, UK. The artwork was first created in an event in August 2011 that was Europe's largest street art festival at the time. It culminated with a block party. The street was mostly repainted in a repeat event in 2012. The artworks comprise murals of various sizes, in different styles, some painted on tower blocks, including a 10-storey office block. The works were created under a road closure, using scaffolding and aerial work platforms.
