Dave Clancy (born 9 September 1978 in Rinteln, West Germany at a Military Base Hospital) He is an English ice hockey goaltender, currently playing for the Flintshire Freeze in the ENL. Clancy began his career playing at deeside junior ice hockey club. Then worked his way up to play some games for the senior team. He then left the club to go and play for the Altrincham Tigers at Under-19 level. He backstopped the Tigers to a national tournament win in Cardiff, claiming the 'Goalie of the Tournament' award along the way. Clancy was also selected for the Team G.B. U-20 squad the same year, but was unavailable to travel with the squad.

Rinteln Place in Lower Saxony, Germany

Rinteln is a small town in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is located on the banks of the Weser river above the Porta Westfalica. The town of Rinteln is in the broad valley between the hills of the Weserbergland and the North Lippe Bergland. In relation to some well known places, it is 60 kilometers west of Hanover, and just 20 kilometers from Hamelin of Pied Piper fame. Its population is about 28,500.

A military is a heavily-armed, highly organised force primarily intended for warfare, also known collectively as armed forces. It is typically officially authorized and maintained by a sovereign state, with its members identifiable by their distinct military uniform. It may consist of one or more military branches such as an Army, Navy, Air Force and in certain countries, Marines and Coast Guard. The main task of the military is usually defined as defence of the state and its interests against external armed threats.

After spending time with the Flintshire Freeze, and establishing himself as their first choice goaltender, Clancy signed for the Manchester Phoenix in the summer of 2003. It would be the team's inaugural season in the EIHL but Clancy was mainly used as a back-up to first choice goaltender Jayme Platt. He played in games with the Phoenix holding a shut out to win in London against the London Racers. Unfortunately after just one season, the franchise was temporarily suspended and so Clancy sought employment elsewhere, signing for the Swindon Wildcats at English Premier Ice Hockey League, EPIHL level. Clancy failed to make his mark though due to travelling, work and family commitments.

Flintshire Freeze Ice hockey club in Queensferry, Wales,  UK

Flintshire Freeze were a Welsh ice hockey team that play in the English National Ice Hockey League, north division. They played their games at Deeside Leisure Centre, Flintshire. They won the North League championship in the 2003/2004 season. After the re-design of the ENIHL after the 2007/08 season, the Freeze played in the North 2 conference. In 2012 the team were dissolved and replaced by a reformed Deeside Dragons.

Manchester Phoenix ice hockey team

Manchester Phoenix were a semi professional ice hockey team from Greater Manchester, England. The club was formed in 2003 as a result of the efforts of supporters group Friends of Manchester Ice Hockey to bring top-level ice hockey back to Manchester after Manchester Storm folded in 2002.

Jayme Platt is an American ice hockey goaltender, currently without a team after being released by the Danbury Trashers in 2006.

Clancy would then move back to the north west, signing for the Blackburn Hawks, where he carried his goaltending duties establishing himself as their first choice . Clancy played 35 regular season games in two seasons, 2004/05 and 2005/06 as well as featuring in all playoff games and a number of cup competitions. After this, Clancy would re-sign for the Freeze in 2006 and re-establish himself as the first choice goaltender ahead of another ex-Phoenix goalie, Matt Compton. Clancy would continue as one of the Freeze goaltenders in the 2008/09 season, making 18 appearances in league and cup competitions.

The Blackburn Hawks, are a British ice hockey team based in Blackburn, Lancashire. They are currently members of the EIHA Moralee Conference, and have previously played in the British National League and the English League Premier Division. Their home ice is the 3,200 seat Blackburn Arena.

Matt Compton is an English professional ice hockey player, currently playing for the Flintshire Freeze in the ENHL. Compton began playing at a higher standard in 2000, when he kept goal for the Deeside Avalanche at U-19 level, making 11 appearances in his first year and maintaining a save percentage of over 87%.

Yevgeni Viktorovich Nabokov, usually transliterated as Evgeni Nabokov, is a Kazakhstani-Russian retired professional ice hockey goaltender who played for the San Jose Sharks, New York Islanders, and Tampa Bay Lightning of National Hockey League (NHL) and for Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk, HC Dynamo Moscow, Metallurg Magnitogorsk and SKA St. Petersburg of the Russian Super League (RSL) and Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) from 1991 to 2015. During his time with the Sharks, Nabokov who was selected 219th overall 1994 NHL Entry Draft by San Jose, was regarded as one of the top goaltenders in the NHL, winning the Calder Memorial Trophy as the best first-year player in 2001 and was voted a finalist for the Vezina Trophy as best goaltender in 2008. He departed the NHL for the first time in 2010 to play in Russia for SKA St. Petersburg, but returned soon after, and concluded his career in the NHL.
