Dave Kirwan is an Australian television and radio presenter and voice-over artist. He has worked in Australian and international media, including The Weather Channel, national radio networks, and television in the United States.
Kirwan worked community radio station 2CCC on the New South Wales Central Coast before breaking into commercial radio with Sea FM in Sydney in 1998. He later moved to Snow FM in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains region, before returning to Sea FM. In 2000, he was shortlisted for the Rawards in the Best Program Director category. [1] [2] [3] [4]
In 2001, he hosted a nationally syndicated evening program for the Broadcast Operations Group.
Between 2007 and 2009, Kirwan began working in New York City at 92.3 K-ROCK, a CBS-owned FM station. He initially presented weekday shifts and later moved to weekend programs. [5] [6] [7]
Kirwan’s first regular television role was as a weather and lifestyle reporter on the Nine Network’s Today show from 2001 to 2004. In 2005, he occasionally filled in for weather presenter Steve Jacobs, including one broadcast in which he announced a one million-dollar prize winner live on air.
From 2001 to 2007, he worked as a reporter for The Weather Channel. In August 2007, he was appointed weekend presenter of the channel’s program Weekend View. [8] [9] [10]
He has also appeared on Fox Sports Australia, [11] FUEL TV, TV1, Sky News, MTV, NBC’s WeatherPlus, and worked as a weather anchor for The Onion . [12] [13] [14]
In October 2009, Kirwan returned to The Weather Channel as a presenter of the Weekend team. [15]
Kirwan’s voice-over work includes promotional material for Nickelodeon, MTV, and HBO, the latter for the United States broadcast of the Australian series Summer Heights High. [16] [17]
In the early 2000s, Kirwan served as a spokesperson for the Perisher Blue Ski Resort. [18] [19]
