David Alagalak (born 11 April 1944 on Southampton Island,Nunavut) is a Canadian politician,who was the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the electoral district of Arviat in the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut from 2004 to 2008.
Prior to becoming an MLA,Alagalak was mayor of Arviat and served as a board member to several Inuit organizations.

The Legislative Assembly of Nunavut is the legislative assembly for the Canadian territory of Nunavut. The seat of the Assembly is the Legislative Building of Nunavut in Iqaluit.
Arviat is a predominantly Inuit hamlet located on the western shore of Hudson Bay in the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut, Canada. Arviat is derived from the Inuktitut word arviq meaning "Bowhead whale". Earlier in history, its name was Tikirajualaaq, and Ittaliurvik.

Daniel Shewchuk is a Canadian politician, who was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for the electoral district of Arviat in the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut in the 2008 territorial election. In that election, he gained 48.4% of the vote, 22% more than his closest competitor. As of April 2010 he is the Minister of Environment, Minister of Human Resources and Minister Responsible for the Nunavut Arctic College.
