The David Angell Humanitarian Award, in honor of David Angell, is an award given to individuals in the entertainment industry who contribute to global wellbeing through donations of time, expertise or other support to improve the human condition.

The American Screenwriters Association established the award with permission from the Angell family. [1]

David Angell American television producer

David Lawrence Angell was an American screenwriter and television producer. Angell won multiple Emmy Awards as the creator and executive producer, along with Peter Casey and David Lee, of the sitcoms Wings and Frasier. Angell and his wife Lynn both died heading home from their vacation on Cape Cod aboard American Airlines Flight 11, the first plane to hit the World Trade Center during the September 11 attacks.

Humanitas Prize Award

The Humanitas Prize is an award for film and television writing intended to promote human dignity, meaning, and freedom. It began in 1974 with Father Ellwood "Bud" Kieser—also the founder of Paulist Productions—but is generally not seen as specifically directed toward religious cinema or TV. The prize is distinguished from similar honors for screenwriters in that a large cash award, between $10,000 and $25,000, accompanies each prize. Journalist Barbara Walters once said, "What the Nobel Prize is to literature and the Pulitzer Prize is to journalism, the Humanitas Prize has become for American television."

<i>Wicked Wisdom</i> (album) 2006 studio album by Wicked Wisdom

Wicked Wisdom is the self-titled second album of the American nu metal band Wicked Wisdom. Released on February 21, 2006, by Jada Pinkett Smith's production company 100% Women and Suburban Noize Records, Will Smith served as the project's executive producer. The album made it to Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart, and peaked at number 44 during the week of March 11, 2006. Allmusic reviewer Alex Henderson said of the album, "[Pinkett Smith] shows herself to be an expressive, commanding singer" and that "[Wicked Wisdom] shows considerable promise". The band promoted the album in 2006, touring with heavy metal band Sevendust.

Rock for the Rainforest is a biennial benefit concert held by the Rainforest Foundation Fund and Rainforest Foundation US, hosted by the organizations' founders Sting and his wife Trudie Styler, since 1991. In addition to the annual flagship concert, Sting holds other concerts and hosts other types of events to benefit the Rainforest Foundation. August Alsina American singer-songwriter from Louisiana

August Anthony Alsina Jr. is an American singer, rapper, and songwriter from New Orleans, Louisiana, formerly signed to Def Jam Recordings. He released his first mixtape The Product in 2012, followed by The Product 2 and his debut extended play (EP) Downtown: Life Under the Gun in 2013, the latter released under The-Dream's Radio Killa Records and Def Jam Recordings. Alsina then his debut studio album Testimony in 2014, after garnering success from the Platinum-selling singles "I Luv This Shit" and "No Love". The album was followed up by This Thing Called Life in 2015. After leaving Def Jam and a long hiatus, he released the EP Forever and a Day in 2019. In 2020, Alsina released his third album The Product III: State of Emergency—along with a 5-part documentary series detailing his life experiences, family, and health, supported by a media publicized "entanglement" with actress Jada Pinkett.

<i>Girls Trip</i> 2017 American comedy film by Malcolm D. Lee

Girls Trip is a 2017 American comedy film starring Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Tiffany Haddish, and Jada Pinkett Smith. The film is directed by Malcolm D. Lee and written by Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver, from a story by the pair and Erica Rivinoja, who based the script off their own experiences with their female friends. Along with Lee, the film was produced by Will Packer under his Will Packer Productions banner. It follows a group of four friends who go to New Orleans to attend the Essence Music Festival in order to reconnect after a long time.

BET Awards 2017

The 17th BET Awards was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on June 25, 2017. The ceremony celebrated achievements in entertainment and honors music, sports, television, and movies released between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. The nominations were announced on May 15, 2017; Beyoncé led the nominees with 7, followed by Bruno Mars with 5. Beyoncé won the most awards with 5, including Album of the Year and Video of the Year.

<i>Red Table Talk</i> Television program

Red Table Talk is an American talk show starring Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, that premiered on May 7, 2018 on Facebook Watch. On June 13, 2018, it was announced that Facebook had ordered an additional thirteen episodes of the series. These new episodes premiered on October 22, 2018. The show's second season premiered on May 6, 2019. Facebook Watch renewed the web series for a third and fourth season, released on February 26, 2020 and March 31, 2021, respectively. The series also spawned a spinoff, Red Table Talk: The Estefans, led by Gloria Estefan, Emily Estefan and Lili Estefan.
