David Basulto is a Chilean architect and editor. He is the cofounder of the online architecture magazine ArchDaily and served as curator of the Nordic Countries Pavilion at the 2016 Venice Biennale of Architecture.

Career

Basulto studied architecture at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in Santiago. In 2008, David Basulto and David Assael cofounded ArchDaily as an English-language architecture spinoff of Plataforma Arquitectura, becoming one of the most popular architecture websites worldwide. [2] [3]

In 2012 Basulto received the National Award for Innovation from the Chilean Government [4] and four years later, he served as curator of the Nordic Countries Pavilion at the 2016 Venice Biennale of Architecture with the exhibition "In Therapy". [5]

In 2020, he and David Assael sold ArchDaily to Swiss media company NZZ Mediengruppe. [6] Since then, he serves as editor-in-chief of ArchDaily [7] and a member of the Mies Crown Hall America Prize International Advisory Council. [8]

David has lectured at Harvard, Escola do Cidade, Strelka Institute, Tsinghua University, TEC de Monterrey, the Center for Architecture, and at the annual American Institute of Architects Convention. [4]

It is the architecture section under the overall Venice Biennale and was officially established in 1980, even though architecture had been a part of the Venice Art Biennale since 1968.

Sir David Frank Adjaye is a Ghanaian-British architect. He is known for having designed many notable buildings around the world, including the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. Adjaye was knighted in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to architecture. He is the recipient of the 2021 Royal Gold Medal, making him the first African recipient and one of the youngest recipients. He was appointed to the Order of Merit in 2022. In 2023, he was accused of sexual assault and harassment by three women.

Mónica Ponce de León is an architect, educator, and dean of the Princeton University School of Architecture.

Hashim A. Sarkis is a Lebanese educator and architect. Since 2015, Sarkis has been Professor and Dean of the School of Architecture and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also founding principal of Hashim Sarkis Studios since 1998.

McNamara has taught architecture at University College Dublin since 1976 and at several other universities.
