David Cheruiyot (born 1973) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in marathon. He is a four-time ING Ottawa Marathon title holder. [1] [2]
He won the 33rd edition of Ottawa Marathon title with a new course record of 2:10:35.4 beating the 2004 course record of 2:11:47set by a fellow Kenyan Elly Rono in the 42.2 kilometer race. [3] He won the Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Bank Marathon with the time of 2:16:44, beating Rochester Hills runner Clint Verran with the time of 2:18:21 to a second position. His course record of 2:10:35.4 in 42.2-kilometer race at the 33rd Ottawa Marathon is his personal best. [4] [5]

Irene Jerotich Kosgei is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in the marathon. She became the first Kenyan woman to win the Commonwealth marathon title at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

The 2011 Chicago Marathon was the 34th edition of the annual marathon race in Chicago, Illinois which was held on Sunday, October 9. The men's race was won by Kenya's Moses Mosop in a time of 2:05:38 hours – a course record. Ejegayehu Dibaba, making her marathon distance debut, was the women's winner in 2:22:09. Some 37,400 runners started the event and the final total of 35,670 finishers was the second highest in its history.

At the European Athletics Championships, Chemtai took victory in the 10,000 metres in 2018 and earned bronze in 2022. Kosgei is the current marathon world record holder for women running in a mixed-sex race, with a time of 2:14:04 achieved on 13 October 2019 at the Chicago Marathon. She won the silver medal in the marathon event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The elite men's race was won by Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge, who took his fourth London Marathon victory in a time of 2:02:37, the second fastest marathon ever at that point. The women's race was won by Brigid Kosgei, also of Kenya, in 2:18:20. American Daniel Romanchuk won the men's wheelchair title in 1:33:38 while Switzerland's Manuela Schär won the women's title in 1:44:09. Changes were made to the course to make it more environmentally friendly; the number of plastic bottles used was reduced and biodegradable alternatives were used instead.
Lawrence Cherono is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He is currently the 8th fastest marathon performer of all time with his 2:03:04 clocking at the 2020 Valencia Marathon. He clocked 2:04:06 to win the Amsterdam Marathon on October 21, 2018. He also won the Amsterdam Marathon in 2017, running a time of 2:05:09, setting the course record, which he broke in 2018.
