David Einstein (born 1946, Detroit, Michigan) is an American artist based in Palm Springs, California.

Education and Instruction

In 1968 Einstein received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oakland University and in 1972 he received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Wayne State University. [1]

In 1970 Einstein attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. [2]

Einstein is professor Emeritus at College of the Desert in Palm Desert, CA. He has also taught at Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, Oakland Community College and Wayne State University. [3]

Exhibitions

Einstein has participated in numerous exhibitions in art galleries and museums. His 50 year retrospective was held at the Triton Museum of Art in 2018. [4] Einstein has had solo exhibitions at The University of Windsor, Hansen Galleries, Little Gallery, [5] Michael H. Lord Gallery, [6] Lawrence Fine Art, [7] Addison Rowe Gallery, [8] East and Peggy Phelps Galleries. [9] Einstein's work has been exhibited in group exhibitions at Crocker Art Museum, Autry Museum of the American West, [10] Palm Springs Art Museum, [11] B'nai B'rith Klutznick National Jewish Museum, [12] [13] and Cranbrook Art Museum. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Carl Eytel</span> German-American painter (1862–1925)

Carl Eytel was a German American artist who built his reputation for paintings and drawings of desert subjects in the American Southwest. Immigrating to the United States in 1885, he settled in Palm Springs, California in 1903. With an extensive knowledge of the Sonoran Desert, Eytel traveled with the author George Wharton James as he wrote the successful Wonders of the Colorado Desert, and contributed over 300 drawings to the 1908 work. While he enjoyed success as an artist, he lived as an ascetic and would die in poverty. Eytel's most important work, Desert Near Palm Springs, hangs in the History Room of the California State Library.

Alexander Gurevich is an Israeli painter and graphic artist. He was born in Alapaevsk, Ural where his family stayed during World War II. Gurevich's parents divorced when he was young; he and his mother returned to her hometown Leningrad when he was 18 months old. He was raised by his grandparents from mother's side. After finishing high school, he attended the then Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute (LETI) during 1961-1967, majoring in electronic engineering. Upon graduation Gurevich worked as an engineer for 5 years. In 1971 Gurevich enlisted into High Art College, named Muhina, from which he graduated 3.5 years later; after earning a degree in Industrial Design. He worked as a decorator for 15 following years, at the same time pursuing his unofficial creative career as an artist.

Jane Logemann is an American artist based in New York City, specializing in abstract aesthetic featuring symmetry in nature and calligraphy-hebraic art. She is a member of the American Abstract Artists (AAA) and her art is exhibited in a variety of public galleries including the Museum of Modern Art, the Walker Art Center, and the Contemporary Jewish Museum.

Chaim Nahor (1914–1993) was a Jewish Israeli artist specializing in abstract art, printing, landscapes and murals. He was part of the developing art coloney in Tzfat. He was associated with Aharon Avni, Steinhardt and Edward Matuschak.

The Holocaust Wall Hangings by Judith Weinshall Liberman are a series of sixty loose-hanging fabric banners of varying sizes created between 1988 and 2002. They illustrate the plight of the Jewish people and other minorities during the Holocaust of World War II.

<i>Religious Liberty</i> (Ezekiel)

Religious Liberty was commissioned by B'nai B'rith and dedicated "to the people of the United States" as an expression of support for the Constitutional guarantee of religious freedom. It was created by Moses Jacob Ezekiel, a B'nai B'rith member and the first American Jewish sculptor to gain international prominence. The statue was 11 feet (3.4 m) high, of marble, and the plinth (base) added another 14 feet (4.3 m). It weighed 26,000 pounds (12,000 kg), and was said to be the largest sculpture created in the 19th century. It was carved in Italy and shipped to Fairmount Park in Philadelphia for the nation's 1876 Centennial Exposition. It was later moved to Independence Mall and now (2023) stands in front of the National Museum of American Jewish History.

Bernis von zur Muehlen is an American fine arts photographer. After receiving a BA in literature, second in class, from the University of Pennsylvania in 1963, earning a Phi Beta Kappa in 1962, she taught English at her alma mater Northeast High School (Philadelphia), where she appeared as the English teacher giving a class on poetry https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UX2OHIzVe1g in Fredrick Wiseman's celebrated cinéma vérité documentary High School. After moving to Northern Virginia, she began photographing the male nude, turning to other subjects in later years. She has lived in Northern Virginia since 1968.
