David James Boyd

David James Boyd (born May 27, 1975) is an African American writer, composer and lyricist perhaps best known for composing the original music and lyrics for the off-Broadway play My Big Gay Italian Wedding . [1] [2]

Boyd's Broadway career started as an actor in multiple Broadway shows including Miss Saigon and Kiss of the Spider Woman. In 2012, Boyd created and starred in the dance/electronic musical The Groove Factory. Written along with co-librettist Chad Kessler, the musical opened to sold-out audiences at the 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival. [3] [4]

In addition to theatre work, Boyd has co-produced music for artists Taylor Dayne, Judy Torres, Kim Sozzi, Ari Gold, Jason Dottley, Levi Kreis, and Inaya Day among others. In 2013, Boyd became musical director on the Emmy-nominated [5] soap opera web series Tainted Dreams . [6] [ citation needed ]

Anthony Marc Shalhoub, is an American actor. He played Adrian Monk in the USA Network television series Monk, Antonio Scarpacci in the NBC sitcom Wings and Abe Weissman on Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Shalhoub has also had a successful film career, with roles in films such as Quick Change (1990), Barton Fink (1991), Big Night (1996), Men in Black, Gattaca, Paulie,The Siege, Galaxy Quest (1999), Spy Kids, Thirteen Ghosts, The Man Who Wasn't There, and 1408 (2007).

My Big Gay Italian Wedding is a play written by Anthony J. Wilkinson that premiered off-Broadway in 2003, at the Actor's Playhouse in New York City. In September 2009, an updated version co-starring Scott Evans played a benefit performance at the St. George Theatre in Staten Island. The play then opened with a new cast that included Reichen Lehmkuhl in May 2010 at the St. Luke's Theatre on West 46th Street, in Manhattan, for an open-ended run that concluded in August 2015.

Celina Consuela Gabriella Carvajal, known professionally as Lena Hall, is an American actress and singer. After a developmental reading at the 2015 New York Musical Theatre Festival where it won the “Award for Excellence,” the show has been presented at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center National Music Theater Conference, the Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals, and the New Works Festival at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley. The musical was formerly titled iLLA! A Hip Hop Musical.
