The Sligo County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) or Sligo GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Sligo. The county board is also responsible for the Sligo county teams.

Eamonn O'Hara was until 2013 the longest-serving Gaelic footballer at senior level. He first played in 1994 before officially announcing his retirement from inter-county football on 14 May 2013.
Barnes Murphy, is a former Gaelic footballer who represented the Sligo county team during the 1970s and 1980s. Aside from winning a GAA All Stars Award in 1974, he won a Connacht Senior Football Championship medal with Sligo in 1975 when he both captained and coached Sligo the same year. Murphy played football for Connacht many times in his career and his talent was duly recognized by the Connacht Railway Cup management in 1976 when he was selected as the first and only Sligo man to captain his province.
Paul Seevers is a hurler from County Sligo, Ireland. He played with the Sligo county team from more than 20 years. He helped the Sligo team to a National Hurling League Division 3 victory in 2004, scoring 2–07 in the final and won a Nicky Rackard Cup in 2008 when Sligo overcame favourites Louth in the final in Croke Park by 3–19 to 3–10, he scored 1–04 in that game and 2–30 over the course of the championship. He also won 3 Railway Cup medals with Connacht. He plays with the Tubbercurry club in Sligo. He represented Ireland in the Shinty International against Scotland in 2003. He won 10 Sligo Senior Hurling Championships winning 9 in a row from 1995 to 2004 and once again in 2006. He also won a Sligo Senior Football Championship in 1991.
Kevin Walsh is an Irish Gaelic football coach, manager and former player. He won three All Stars and two All-Ireland Senior Football Championships while playing at senior level for the Galway county team.
Calry-St Joseph's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Calry and the northern ward of Sligo, Éire. The club was formerly known as Calry Gaels until it became Calry-St Joseph's in 1987 after a re-organisation of the GAA structures in the Sligo urban area. They have won the last 7 Sligo Senior Hurling Championships and played in 12 of the last 13 finals, winning in 2005 until 2009 and again from 2011 to 2017. In 2009 they won the Connacht Junior Club Hurling Championship beating Galway side Skehana 1-09 to 0-10 in the final having lost to them the year before and they repeated that feat again in 2012 by beating the same opposition from before, Skehana. They followed up that victory with a double double by winning both Provincial and County Championships in 2013. The club's most recent victory in the Connacht Junior Hurling Championship came in 2016. Reduced to 13 men, with two players sent off, they clawed back a deficit of 5 points to tie the match and go on to beat Micheál Breathnach of the Galway Gaeltacht in extra-time, 3-9 to 2-10. They won the Sligo Intermediate Football Championship in 2004 & 2014 and came Runners Up in 1988, 1990 & 2013 and won Sligo Junior Football Championship in 1976 & 1987 and were Runners Up in 1983 & 1984.
Charlie Harrison is an Irish sportsperson from County Sligo. He plays Gaelic football for his club St John's and at senior level for the Sligo county team. In 2010, he was given an All Star, a particularly unusual achievement for a Sligo player. Only three others had managed this before him [Mickey Kearins, Barnes Murphy and Eamon O'Hara].

David O'Gara is a Gaelic footballer from County Roscommon. He plays with the Roscommon senior football team and Roscommon Gaels club. In 2010 he was a member of the Roscommon squad that secured the Connacht Senior Football Championship in a 0-14 to 0-13 win over Sligo. He is a son of former Roscommon player of the 1970s and 1980s John O'Gara.
David Keenan is a Gaelic footballer from County Roscommon. He plays his club football with St Barry's, and played with the Roscommon senior football team. He was a member of the Roscommon minor team that beat Kerry in the 2006 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship final. In 2010, he was part of the DCU team that won the 2010 O'Byrne Cup beating Louth in the final and the Sigerson Cup beating UCC. In 2010 he was a member of the senior Roscommon team that won the Connacht Senior Football Championship by beating Sligo by one point.
Easkey is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in west County Sligo, including the principal village of Easkey and hinterlands of Rathlee, Killeenduff and Owenbeg. The club was founded in 1888.
St Patrick's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Dromard and Skreen in west County Sligo, Republic of Ireland.
Ignatius "Nace" O'Dowd was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for the Sligo county team in the 1950s and was a member of a number of successful Railway Cup teams.
Desmond "Dessie" Sloyan is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. His league and championship career at senior level with the Sligo county team spanned ten seasons from 1996 until 2006.
The Sligo county football team represents Sligo in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Sligo GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Connacht Senior Football Championship and the National Football League.
