David Powell (rugby union)

David Lewes "Piggy" Powell (born 17 May 1942) [1] is a former England international rugby union player.

He was capped eleven times by England as a prop between 1966 and 1971. [2]

Powell was selected for the 1966 British Lions tour to Australia and New Zealand, but did not play in any of the internationals.

He played club rugby for Long Buckby RFC and Northampton, making 370 appearances for the club over 15 seasons from 1963 to 1978, including four seasons as captain. He coached the Northampton team in the mid-1980 and then became head groundsman at Northampton's Franklin's Gardens ground until his retirement in 2015. [3] Powell is one of the members of Northampton's Hall of Fame. [4]

Alexander James Murphy OBE is an English former professional rugby league footballer, and coach of the mid to late 20th century. Known as 'Murphy the Mouth' and regarded as one of the greatest halfbacks in the history of the British game, he represented Great Britain in 27 Tests and his club career was played at three clubs, St. Helens, Leigh and Warrington. Murphy assumed a player-coach role of the last two clubs and expanded his coaching role toward the end of his playing career to include clubs such as Wigan, Salford and Huddersfield. He later returned to both Warrington and Leigh respectively as a football manager. He was the first player to captain three different clubs to victory in the Challenge Cup Final.

Dan Vickerman Australian rugby player

Daniel Joseph Vickerman was a professional rugby union player. The 204 cm, 119 kg lock played 63 Tests with the Wallabies, the national team of his adopted country of Australia. After seven seasons with the Wallabies, and having played Super Rugby for the New South Wales Waratahs and ACT Brumbies, Vickerman left his successful international rugby career in 2008. He attended the University of Cambridge, where he read a degree in Land Economy at Hughes Hall. While in England, he played rugby for Cambridge University and Northampton Saints. In 2011, he returned to Australia and played again for the Wallabies, including at the 2011 Rugby World Cup, before he retired from the game.
