David Riker is the co-founder of BlueLine Grid, operator of a critical communication platform for enterprise security and public safety. [1] [2] [3]

In 1999, Riker founded one of the first online auto insurance companies, eCoverage, which allowed users to purchase and manage their insurance needs online. [4]

Education

Riker attended Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. [5] He graduated from Trinity in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. [5]

Career

After graduating from Trinity, Riker worked for the Boston-based biotechnology company, Genzyme, from 1994 to 1996. [4] Following his career at Genzyme, Riker founded a company that facilitated communication via interactive networks and video calls between investment bankers and institutional investors. [4]

Riker was the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and chairman of the board of eCoverage, one of the first online auto insurance companies. [6] [7] Riker founded the company in September 1999, [5] and it was sold in 2001 to the General Motors Acceptance Corporation. [8]

Riker became the chief technology strategist for the insurance provider St. Paul Companies Inc. in 2001. [9] In April 2006, Riker started Storm Exchange, a weather risk management company. [10] [11]

In 2013, Riker co-founded BlueLine Grid (formerly Bratton Technologies, Inc.) along with co-founders Jack Weiss and Bill Bratton—the current police commissioner of New York City and former police chief of Los Angeles. [12] BlueLine Grid is a mobile communications application that enables secure communication for public safety and corporate security teams. [3] The first app was released in May 2014.

BlueLine Grid is a company that provides a mobile communication and mass notification platform built for interagency communication between civil service employees and private sector security teams. BlueLine Grid was created by Bill Bratton, the 42nd Commissioner of the NYPD, formerly the 38th Commissioner of NYPD, and Chief of LAPD with co-founders Jack Weiss, and David Riker. The company was founded in January 2013, while the BlueLine Grid mobile app was launched in May 2014. The platform does not require registration to join, but verification is necessary for public employees or partners to gain access to connections and information in the Grid.

Henri A. Termeer was a Dutch biotechnology executive and entrepreneur who is considered a pioneer in corporate strategy in the biotechnology industry for his tenure as CEO at Genzyme. Termeer created a business model adopted by many others in the biotech industry by garnering steep prices— mainly from insurers and government payers— for therapies for rare genetic disorders known as orphan diseases that mainly affect children. Genzyme uses biological processes to manufacture drugs that are not easily copied by generic-drug makers. Zip2 Corp. was a company that provided and licensed online city guide software to newspapers. The company was founded in Palo Alto, California as Global Link Information Network, Inc. on November 9, 1995, by Greg Kouri and brothers Elon and Kimbal Musk. Initially, Global Link provided local businesses with an Internet presence, but later began to assist newspapers in designing online city guides before being purchased by Compaq Computer in 1999.

The American cable and satellite television network Pop was originally launched in 1981 as a barker channel service providing a display of localized channel and program listings for cable television providers. Later on, the service, branded Prevue Channel or Prevue Guide and later as Prevue, began to broadcast interstitial segments alongside the on-screen guide, which included entertainment news and promotions for upcoming programs. After Prevue's parent company, United Video Satellite Group, acquired the entertainment magazine TV Guide in 1998, the service was relaunched as TV Guide Channel, which now featured full-length programs dealing with the entertainment industry, including news magazines and reality shows, along with red carpet coverage from major award shows.
