New Ulm is a city in Brown County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 14,120 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Brown County. It is located on the triangle of land formed by the confluence of the Minnesota River and the Cottonwood River.

Malone Stadium is a stadium in Monroe, Louisiana, United States, on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. It is primarily used for football and is the home field of the ULM Warhawks. The stadium, named for former coach James L. Malone, opened in 1978 and has a seating capacity of 27,617 people. The field Was named JPS Field, for a local company, JPS Aviation/JPS Equipment Rental. The field was named after the company after they agreed to fund installation of a new FieldTurf playing surface in 2014.

The modern-day football department, officially playing as SSV Ulm 1846 Fussball, was formed on 9 March 2009 when the department separated from SSV Ulm 1846. The club currently play in 3. Liga from 2023–24 after promotion from Regionalliga Südwest in 2022–23.
Raymond 'Ray' Philyaw is a former arena football quarterback who was most recently the offensive coordinator of the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League (AFL). He also played for the Cleveland Gladiators, Chicago Rush, Kansas City Brigade, Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings and the Albany/Indiana Firebirds, leading the former to the American Conference championship game in 2004 and 2005. Prior to his Arena Football career, he played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League and the Madison Mad Dogs of the Indoor Football League. After leaving to coach with the New Orleans VooDoo in 2011, he attempted a return as a player in 2012 with the San Jose SaberCats, but later became OC for the San Antonio Talons. He holds the record for the highest career TD-to-INT ratio in AFL history and threw a school record 52 TDs while attending Northeast Louisiana.
The Battle of Haslach-Jungingen, also known as the Battle of Albeck, fought on 11 October 1805 at Ulm-Jungingen north of Ulm at the Danube between French and Austrian forces, was part of the War of the Third Coalition, which was a part of the greater Napoleonic Wars. The 2008 Louisiana–Monroe Warhawks football team represented the University of Louisiana at Monroe in the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Louisiana–Monroe competed as a member of the Sun Belt Conference, and played their home games at Malone Stadium. The Warhawks were led by sixth-year head coach Charlie Weatherbie. ULM finished the season with a 4–8 record (3–4).

The Louisiana Tech–Louisiana–Monroe football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the Louisiana–Monroe Warhawks. The two schools are located 35 miles apart from each other on I-20 in North Louisiana. The two teams have met 43 times on the football field, with Louisiana Tech currently holding a 29–14 lead in the all-time series. The game was put on hiatus in 2000, following the Bulldogs' transition to the Western Athletic Conference, but future matchups have been scheduled.
