De La Salle College, Colombo is the only school in Sri Lanka dedicated to the Patron Saint of Christian Teachers St. John Baptist de la Salle, founder of the congregation of De La Salle Brothers of the Christian Schools in Latin: "Fratres Scholarum Christianarum"(FSC).
The college was inaugurated on 1 February 1905 by the LaSallian Brothers. Since then the school has been headed by many LaSallian Brothers as listed below.

Rev Br Luke Gregory, introduced a house system, with four houses: Edward, Augustine, Luke and Hermenegild, each named after a De La Salle brother. This system is used for events such as inter-house sports and athletics.
The Mazenodian-LaSallian (The Battle of the DEs) was an annual cricket encounter between De Mazenod College, Kandana and De La Salle College, Mutwal in since 1955. It is known as The Battle of the DEs due to the names of the two schools.[ citation needed ]
De La Salle University, also referred to as DLSU, De La Salle or La Salle, is a private, Catholic coeducational research university run by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools with main campus in Taft Avenue, Malate, Manila, Philippines. It was established by the Christian Brothers in 1911 as De La Salle College (DLSC) in Nozaleda Street, Paco, Manila with Blimond Pierre Eilenbecker, FSC serving as director, and is the first De La Salle school in the Philippines. The De La Salle Brothers, officially named the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools abbreviated FSC, is a Catholic lay religious congregation of pontifical right for men founded in France by Jean-Baptiste de La Salle (1651–1719), and now based in Rome, Italy. The De La Salle Brothers are also known as the Christian Brothers, French Christian Brothers, or Lasallian Brothers. The Lasallian Christian Brothers are distinct from the Congregation of Christian Brothers, often also referred to as simply the Christian Brothers, or Irish Christian Brothers. Nanayakkarapathirage Martin Perera, commonly known as Dr. N. M. Perera, was one of the leaders of the Sri Lankan Trotskyist Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP). He was the first Trotskyist to become a cabinet minister. He served two terms as Minister of Finance and Leader of the Opposition, as well as one term as the Mayor of Colombo.

St. La Salle Hall is an H-shaped four-story academic building built in the Neoclassical style in the Philippines. It was built from 1920 to 1924 to serve as the new campus of De La Salle College due to a lack of space in the previous campus in Paco, Manila, and to accommodate its increasing student population. Hyacinth Gabriel Connon, F.S.C., was a Lasallian Brother and President of De La Salle University in Manila from 1950 to 1959 and 1966 to 1978, the second president to have served two terms in the history of the university, the first being Brother Acisclus Michael, F.S.C. He had the longest time to exert his influence on the university, initially for nine years, subsequently for twelve for a total of twenty-one years.

The La Salle Green Hills Greenies, officially the Benilde–LSGH Greenies, is the varsity team representing La Salle Green Hills as the junior affiliate team of the St. Benilde Blazers in the NCAA. Since LSGH is an all-boys school, the Greenies do not have a girls' team.
