Dead Gentlemen Productions is an independent film company based in Seattle, Washington.
They have released a number of films, including the award-winning cult classic The Gamers , The Gamers: Dorkness Rising and The Gamers: Hands of Fate .
All of the films have featured "The Purple Ninja", a ninja wearing purple garbs who is mostly brutally killed during a fight scene. The character is credited as playing himself. While the website implies that The Purple Ninja is a real person of superhuman qualities, the special features for Gamers: Dorkness Rising reveal The Purple Ninja to be Nathan Rice.

Steve Jackson Games (SJGames) is a game company, founded in 1980 by Steve Jackson, that creates and publishes role-playing, board, and card games, and the gaming magazine Pyramid.
Ryu Hayabusa is a fictional character and the protagonist of Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden action-adventure video game series, in addition to featuring as a player character in the Dead or Alive fighting game franchise by Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja where he serves as the protagonist in Dead or Alive 2. He is a human-dragon hybrid who wields an ancestral weapon called the Dragon Sword, and is the leader of the Hayabusa Ninja Clan. One of Tecmo's most enduring characters, Ryu has appeared on official series merchandise as well as in the feature film DOA: Dead or Alive, and has made many crossover appearances in other games. He has received favorable reception from critics and audiences, and is considered to be one of the most iconic examples of a ninja character in video games as handful of critics have ranked him as gaming's number 1 ninja.
Vampire Hunter D is a series of novels written by Japanese author Hideyuki Kikuchi and illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano since 1983.
Onimusha is a series of video games developed and published by Capcom. It makes use of the historic figures that shaped Japan's history, retelling their stories with supernatural elements. Most of the games are of the action-adventure genre, a combination of third-person hack-and-slash combat and puzzle elements. The player protagonist wields the power of the Oni, enabling them to fight the Genma, the main enemy in the series. As of June 30, 2023, the series has sold a total of 8.6 million copies worldwide, making it Capcom's ninth best-selling franchise, behind Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Mega Man, Devil May Cry, Dead Rising, Ace Attorney, and Marvel vs. Capcom.

The Gamers is a 2002 film written and directed by Matt Vancil and produced by independent movie company Dead Gentlemen Productions. It is an affectionate spoof of role-playing games, and often shown at gaming conventions.

Xak I & II is a re-release of Xak (1989) and Xak II (1990), a fantasy role-playing video game series Xak developed and published by the Japanese software developer MicroCabin and Telenet Japan's development team Riot. This set contains both the first two Xak series games back-to-back on one complete Super Cd-Rom^2 with enhanced graphics and sound. In a similar style to Ys Books I & II, also for the PC-Engine system, Xak II, the second game in the series picks up immediately as the first game concludes. Xak I & II was a Japanese release only and although the first two Xak games have been translated into English on the MSX2, the PC-Engine versions remain untranslated for now.
The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is a feature-length film produced by Dead Gentlemen Productions, and focuses on a group of table-top role-playing gamers as their gamemaster attempts to shepherd them through a campaign that they've played through three times and have yet to actually finish. While the film is set in the same universe as and has a similar theme to its predecessor, The Gamers, it is not a direct sequel to the first film, as it focuses on a different group of players. Also, unlike its predecessor, this film dedicates a substantial portion of the film to the players themselves, and not their characters. It began filming in 2005 and was set for release in 2006, and was finally released at Gen Con in Indianapolis by Anthem Pictures on August 14, 2008. Paizo had an exclusive sales window for the 2008 Gen Con convention where the cast and crew of The Gamers: Dorkness Rising were signing copies at the Paizo booth.
Muramasa: The Demon Blade, known in Japan as Oboro Muramasa, is an action role-playing game developed by Vanillaware for the Wii, and later the PlayStation Vita. The game was published in 2009 by Marvelous Entertainment (Japan), Ignition Entertainment, and Rising Star Games (Europe). The Vita version was published in 2013 by Marvelous AQL in Japan and Aksys Games in Western territories. Using a 2D side-scrolling perspective, the gameplay revolves around a beat 'em up fighting system, while incorporating role-playing elements such as leveling and questing.

The film is a loose comedic re-interpretation of the 16th-century novel Journey to the West, a Chinese literary classic often believed to be written by Wu Cheng'en.
The Gamers: Hands of Fate is a 2013 gaming film written by Aubrey Kehres and Ben Dobyns and directed by Matt Vancil and Ben Dobyns. It's the second sequel of the 2002 film The Gamers by Dead Gentlemen Productions and was successfully funded via Kickstarter. It is produced By Zombie Orpheus Entertainment.
