Dean Rankine is an Australian comics artist, writer and illustrator. [1] Rankine's work has appeared in many comics, books and magazines. [2]
His early comics appeared in many children's magazines - Mania, Explore, Krash, KidZone and Challenge. His own characters have included "Grossgirl and Boogerboy" in Mania and "In the Wild With Maggie and Mitch" in Explore (Pearson Education). He became a Dandy artist in issue 3571 and has drawn the mini-strips 'My Mum Is A Brain Eating Zombie', 'Flatman and Ribbon', 'The Shrimpsons', 'Simon's Bowel' and 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turkeys' for that title. Rankine is a regular guest and presenter at Australian Comic Conventions. [3]
He has gone on to work on Simpsons Comics. [3] His other credits include; Futurama, Rick and Morty, Invader Zim, Underdog, Oggy and the Cockroaches and The Riverdale Diaries : Starring Veronica. [3] He illustrated the Timmy the Ticked-Off Pony series - written by Magda Szubanski. [3] And wrote and illustrated - Death Metal Emo Elves. [4]

Life in Hell is a comic strip by Matt Groening which was published weekly from 1977 to 2012. The strip features anthropomorphic rabbits and a gay couple. The comic covers a wide range of subjects, such as love, sex, work, and death, and explores themes of angst, social alienation, self-loathing, and fear of inevitable doom.
Oggy and the Cockroaches is a French animated comedy television series created by Jean-Yves Raimbaud for Gaumont Multimedia and Xilam Animation. The series chronicles the exploits and adventures of Oggy, a blue cat whose life is constantly interrupted by three cockroaches — Dee Dee, Marky, and Joey respectively — who love to cause mischief within his home. The show employs silent comedy: characters either do not speak or use unintelligible vocalizations and gestures. The show premiered in September 1998 on France 3, and later expanded internationally. The series ended in January 2019, having released seven seasons in over two decades.
Bongo Comics Group was a comic book publishing company founded in 1993 by Matt Groening along with Steve & Cindy Vance and Bill Morrison. It published comics related to the animated television series The Simpsons and Futurama, as well as the SpongeBob SquarePants comics, along with original material. The company was named after Bongo, a rabbit character in Groening's comic strip Life in Hell.
Futurama Comics is a comic book series based on the television show Futurama published by Bongo Comics. It has been published bi-monthly in the United States since November 2000. It has been published in the United Kingdom and Australia since 2002 and four trade paperbacks have been released. During the production hiatus between 2003 and 2006 and from 2013 to 2023, with few exceptions, it was the only new Futurama material being made. The comic book series continues its run, even after two cancellations of the TV series. Issues #82 and #83 were distributed via the Futuramaland app, and will not be physically printed.

The Ledger Awards are prizes awarded to "acknowledge excellence in Australian comic art and publishing."
