Debi Prasad Lenka is an Indian film director, screenwriter and editor who works predominantly in the Odia film industry. He co-directed and co-wrote the Odia film DAMaN , which won the Best Odia Film award at the 70th National Film Awards. [1]

Early life and career

Debi Prasad Lenka is from Cuttack, Odisha. He completed a three-year filmmaking course and started his career as an assistant director and film editor, working with media and entertainment companies including UTV, Times of India Group, Zee Entertainment, and BAG Films across Odisha and Mumbai. [2]

Film career

He has frequently collaborated with filmmaker Vishal Mourya , jointly directing and writing regional and Hindi films. [3]

Biju Babu (2019)

Lenka co-directed and wrote the Odia political action film Biju Babu (2019), based on the life and legacy of former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik. >

DAMaN (2022)

DAMaN (*Durgama Anchalare Malaria Nirakarana*) is an Odia social adventure drama that follows a young doctor's fight against malaria in tribal regions of Odisha. Lenka served as director, writer and editor. The film was released on 4 November 2022 and received national and regional critical acclaim. [4]

The Odisha government later declared the film tax-free in the state owing to its social impact. [5]
