Demirspor clubs in Turkey are founded by the employees of the Turkish Railways (TCDD), similar to the Lokomotiv sports clubs of Eastern Europe. [1] Most Demirspor clubs have jersey colours blue and navy, and bear the TCDD symbol on their logo. Adana Demirspor and Ankara Demirspor are the only Demirspor club that compete in the Turkish Professional Football League System, and Ankara Demirspor is the only club still affiliated with TCDD.

By 1942, there were 38 Demirspor clubs registered: Haydarpaşa, Derince, İzmit, Ankara, Irmak, Çankırı, Karabük, Çatalağzı, Balıkesir, Bandırma, Soma, Tavşanlı, Kayseri, Sivas, Samsun, Çetinkaya, Divrik, Malatya, Maden, Adana, Fevzipaşa, Mersin, İskenderun, Ulukışla, Afyon, Konya, İzmir, Manisa, Alaşehir, Nazilli, Çamlık, Sirkeci, Edirne, Erzurum, Sarıkamış, Erzincan, Eskişehir, Mudanya, Edremit. Adana Demirspor Kulübü is a multi-sports club based in Adana, Turkey. The football department is the most popular department which secured 4th place at the 2022–23 Süper Lig and qualified for European competitions for the first time in their history. The club also competes in rowing, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball. Founded by railway workers of Turkish State Railways (TCDD) in 1940, The football team's success at the Adana League and the water polo team's unbeaten National League titles in the club's first three decades built a large worker fan base in the city. Some supporters who are unhappy with the management of the club, founded Adanaspor in 1954 and competition among the two clubs for the citywide support and domination since then, created one of the fiercest rivalries of Turkish football which continues to this day as the Adana derby. From 1970s to late 2010s, the club had less success than their archrival, did not win a major title and had not participated in any European competitions, though continued to gain wider support than Adanaspor and became one of the most supported clubs in Turkey. The club's recent success at the Super Lig and qualification for the UEFA Conference League and Adanaspor's decline is widening the gap between two clubs further in terms of fan support and club value.

The Turkish State Railways (TCDD) started building high-speed rail lines in 2003. TCDD has branded its high-speed service as Yüksek Hızlı Tren (YHT) which currently operates on three lines: the Ankara–Istanbul high-speed railway and the Ankara–Konya high-speed railway and the Ankara-Sivas high-speed railway. YHT is the only high-speed rail service in Turkey, with two types of EMU train models operating at speeds of up to 250 km/h (155 mph) (HT65000) or 300 km/h (186 mph) (HT80000).

Ankara Demirspor is a Turkish professional football club based in Ankara. They compete in the TFF Second League. They were one of the Super League's founding members in 1959. By winning the former Turkish Football Championship in 1947, they became Turkish champions for the first and only time. They played 13 seasons in the Super League and relegated to the Second League in 1971 and never returned to the top division.

The Eskişehir Football League was founded as a regional football league for Eskişehir based clubs in 1924. Although it was held a few years before 1924 already, it gained official status in 1924 as the national football association was founded in 1923 and began organising the regional leagues. In the period from 1924 to 1935, the winners of the Eskişehir League qualified for the former Turkish Football Championship. In 1940 Eskişehir Demirspor won the Turkish championship against Fenerbahçe, marking a turning point in Turkish football as clubs from Istanbul, Ankara, and İzmir were the dominating sides in those decades. By achieving this feat, they were included in the 1941 National Division, which included only the clubs of the three major regional leagues until that point.

The Blue Train is the Turkish State Railways premier passenger train service started in the 1980s. The first Blue Train operated between Istanbul and Ankara, entering service in 1979. More Blue Train services were added later on. The İzmir Blue Train, Central Anatolia Blue Train, Çukurova Blue Train and 4th of September Blue Train were are overnight trains. These trains had custom railcars, built by TÜVASAŞ, all painted blue with a blue painted DE 24000 series locomotive pulling the train. The current remnant is just a branding with regular rolling stock. Today there are only three blue trains are in service.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">TCDD Transport</span> Turkish national train operator

TCDD Transport is a government-owned railway company responsible for the operations of most passenger and freight rail in Turkey. The company was formed on 14 June 2016, splitting off from the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) to take over railway operations, while TCDD would continue to administer railway infrastructure. TCDD Taşımacılık officially began operations on 1 January 2017.

The 1935 Turkish Football Championship was the sixth edition of the competition. Fenerbahçe won their second national championship title by defeating Altınordu 3–1 in the final. For Altınordu it was the club's third and last appearance in the championship final.

The 1940 Turkish Football Championship was the seventh edition of the competition. Eskişehir Demirspor won their first and only national championship title by defeating Fenerbahçe in the final. For Eskişehir Demirspor it was the club's first and sole appearance in the championship final.

The 1947 Turkish Football Championship was the 13th edition of the competition. It was held in May. Ankara Demirspor won their first and only national championship title by winning the Final Group in Ankara undefeated.

The 1941 Turkish Football Championship was the eighth edition of the competition. It was held in July. Gençlerbirliği won their first national championship title by defeating Beşiktaş in the final. For Gençlerbirliği it was the club's first title with one more to follow in 1946.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Adana football derby</span>

The Adana derby is a local derby that takes place between Adanaspor and Adana Demirspor, the two professional football league teams based in Adana. The derby is the semi-annual attestation of the rivalry for citywide support and domination which dates back to 1956. It is a rivalry that is rooted in socio-economic divisions, in which Adana Demirspor are originally the club of workers and landowners, Adanaspor are the club of merchants and artisans. Adana derby is considered to be one of the biggest derby matches outside Istanbul.
